USAA sues car dealer over name

San Antonio's USAA has sued a California auto dealer, alleging it has infringed on the financial services company's trademark by using the initials USAA in two business names.

Simultaneously with USAA filing suit on Tuesday, a Bexar County District Court judge issued a temporary restraining order that bars USAA Auto Group and USAA Remarketing LLC of Oceanside, Calif., from using USAA either in their business names or on the Internet.

A court hearing on the dispute is scheduled for Feb. 12.

USAA helps its members find, finance and insure vehicles, company spokesman Roger Wildermuth said in an email.

It could cause confusion - and their car finding service is awesome! And - I'm a member - I don't want anything hurting my dividend each year . . . it amounts to a months auto and renters insurance.

So yeah, having an auto dealership/auto financing co. with the same acronym is confusing.
