San Antonio's USAA has sued a California auto dealer, alleging it has infringed on the financial services company's trademark by using the initials USAA in two business names.
Simultaneously with USAA filing suit on Tuesday, a Bexar County District Court judge issued a temporary restraining order that bars USAA Auto Group and USAA Remarketing LLC of Oceanside, Calif., from using USAA either in their business names or on the Internet.
A court hearing on the dispute is scheduled for Feb. 12.
USAA helps its members find, finance and insure vehicles, company spokesman Roger Wildermuth said in an email.
