I'm getting ready to go do some more "door-to-door" work on the epidemiological study that I'm working on.
When I get back this afternoon, I'll be re-writing drafts of op-eds that I'm submitting to two area newspapers.
This evening, I'll try to write up an outline for an upcoming talk at one of the state universities that invited me to speak about environmental issues.
Later tonight, if possible, I'd like to do at least a bit of writing on the book that I need to get to my agent in May.
Thus, it appears unlikely that I will be available to participate in extended discussions about last night's half-time show. I didn't see it -- or the Super Bowl, as I was doing other things. But my oldest son, who stopped by last night at 11 pm/est, said that he thinks Beyonce is cool.

(25,816 posts)On the more serious side--and I ask you as an expert--What's the status of Ali? I heard he was near the end.
The "rumors" about The Champ apparently started in England; the misinformation was connected to an interview with his younger brother (who hasn't seen Muhammad in years).
It is something that, unfortunately, happens every so often. So one of Ali's daughters responded on the internet, with a photo of Ali watching the Super Bowl. She said that the rumors were totally false. In fact, she noted The Champ was having a good day, and was talking more than usual.
To be honest, these type of things are upsetting to me. When I first read the rumor, I was thinking of calling my brother, to see what was up. But then I realized if anything was up, he would have called me.
I hope he watches many more Super Bowls.
Edit to add: You are a good citizen-so active in your community.

(73,232 posts)much to so many people. What an amazing human being he is! (I am glad that you asked about him. Yesterday, I looked through DU to see if there were any OPs/threads about the rumor. I know that a lot of this community loves the man.)

(23,921 posts)I got to shake his hand, and I called him "Champ". He gave me a huge smile, said, "Nice to meet you, young man", and then faked a punch. When I flinched, he laughed uproariously and put an arm around my shoulders.
I love Muhammad Ali.

(19,053 posts)I have been worried about you since your last fall. Sending positive energy to you as you continue to shoulder a large weight in the fight against the poisoning of our land and water.

(73,232 posts)That fall was a real set-back for me. I'm used to aches & pains -- nothing new there. But what was most frustrating for me was experiencing difficulties with memory. So I'm glad to be feeling a lot better.
I'm hoping that the college talk will result in getting some student participation in the door-to-door delivery of the health survey. The teacher said that she could make it an assignment. I'd prefer that they take part, because they want to. I am glad that some graduate students can get credit for helping in the statistical analysis of the survey results.

(73,232 posts)After doing the lead vocals on Jimi Hendrix's instrumental jazz LP, I knew I needed to find meaning to the chaos I found on re-runs of "Get Smart." The Illuminati had placed ads in several newspapers for it's semi-annual remembership drive. I've always drank water, so I figured, "Why not?" There really are no coincidences in life. It has become the central theme in my life.

(73,232 posts)your questions is, by law, only to be provided to those who have the Illuminati ring that was distributed in boxes of Cracker Jacks circa 1965. I assume that you have one. Hence, I will speak in code: Years ago, Abbie Hoffman wrote that "it is only safe to abuse the drugs that your doctor prescribed for you." (Soon to be a Major Motion Picture) He was wrong.

LOL and I can't remember where I left my code book so I can't understand what you just said.

So glad to see you are feeling better.

(35,454 posts)That said, gridiron madness bores me and I couldn't resist not being one of the trillions who munched chicken wings and ogled Beyonce. As for you being a member of the Illuminati, as suggested upthread, I've always suspected you of being something but if that were it, you'd be doing your important door-to-door in a limo.

(73,232 posts)believe there was a Super Bowl yesterday. I don't: it seems obvious that the same people who faked the moon landing were up to their old tricks. But there are lots of paranoid people who are heavily invested in the Super Bowl Theory.
