1. Awesome. And now that Japan's whaling industry is collapsing, it's a good day.

Thank you, Captain Watson, for putting you life on the line for over 40 years. Chii meegwetch, brother.

4. If they keep losing money trying, but not succeeding, to kill these wonderful sentient beings,

which few Japanese want to eat btw, they may have no choice. Next, they need to leave the dolphins alone!

7. The key is demand

And it seems to be dying with this generation. Bear in mind that Japan is not the only whaling nation.

8. Yeah but they don't just kill whales to eat, they do it for sense of empire, to conquer

an animal so large and mysterious. But you're right, hopefully that feeling of empire is a generational thing that gets lost on the younger generation who move away from the traditional Japan in this sense.

9. Yes, I know that, but they are the most blatant and aggressive.

When Japan ends it's unprofitable hunting Norway and Iceland may very well follow. My understanding is that few people in these countries eat whale meat. It's certainly not wanted in most if not all Western countries. It is illegal in most.

10. South Korea wants to do "scientific whaling"

International Whaling Commission meeting ends with mixed results. S. Korea wants to do scientific whaling:

I'm unable to see the link in the OP, but here's one:
