Ann Romney for Senate?

http://bostonherald.com/news_opinion/local_politics/2013/02/brown_out_gop_mulls_romney_energy

Massachusetts Republicans are desperately scrambling to find a strong Senate candidate to replace Scott Brown, with some even trying to persuade Mitt Romney’s wife or son to jump into the race to avert another electoral disaster.

The former GOP senator’s decision to stay out of the June 25 special election surprised and angered some Republican leaders, who said it will make it much harder to beat a Democratic opponent without Brown on the ballot.

“I’ve had several people call me and ask about Ann Romney,” Ron Kaufman, a longtime friend and aide to the former Massachusetts governor and 2012 presidential candidate nominee, told the Herald.

11. Ann Rmoney would only agree to run if she didn't have to represent all of the people

Like the poor and middle class. Yuck. That would be no fun at all. They should just be on their own. Ann would be happy to represent her wealthy friends, however. They could all get together and discuss important issues that the elite Americans face, like where's the best place to stash cash overseas to avoid paying taxes, how to deal with the domestic labor problems (household maids, gardeners, etc.,) as well as the best practices to squeeze every cent out of companies they're liquidating.

A Town Hall meeting with Ann would find only luxury cars in the parking lot, as she would not tolerate having to face "you people."

18. Wasn't She the Only Person in the Campaign Less Liked Than Mitt?

She carried herself the entire campaign just like every stereotype a privileged rich person. Her sense of entitlement was palpable with statements like "it's our turn," "We’ve given all you people need to know," and "I love the fact that there are women out there who don’t have a choice and they must go to work and they still have to raise the kids."

That last one is especially galling since Ann Romney has never worked a day in her life for a paycheck. Okay, so she raised 5 sons. But she raised five sons while not working outside the home and while married to a pretty wealthy Mitt Romney. I'm sure she never lacked money for baby-sitters or day care when she needed to go to the spa to get her facials, massages and mani-pedis. Yet she loves the fact poor women who have to work outside the home still also have the task of raising kids. They don't have access to the same financial resources as Ann did. They're probably lucky if they have anything left over each month after rent, food, and day-care for their kids while they work. And lots of them are on food stamps (SNAP) and welfare (TANF) because they work jobs with crap pay like being a WalMart "Associate."

Yes MA GOP, please do run Ann Romney in that liberal state. Just put her out there and let her start talking. She's sure as hell no Michelle Obama.

20. Guess they just want a last name to run

Ann Romney was just supporting her husband's failed campaign, I doubt she has any desire to run one of her own. I also doubt anyone would vote for her. She's not Hilary Clinton. Jon Stewart, David Letterman, Denis Leary, etc would have a field day, though.

22. The reasoning runs something like this

Elizabeth Warren won the last election handily. Elizabeth Warren has no experience in politics, but she beat Scott Brown. Scott Brown was hugely (or hughly ) popular since he took Ted Kennedy's old seat. Hillary Clinton won a senate seat in New York after Bill retired from politics. Hillary Clinton had no experience running for office except at Bill's side. Therefore, Ann Romney should be a shoo-in.

Never mind the fact that Warren's been in the political spotlight for at least four years, founded a highly controversial consumer protection bureau and did battle with a hostile Congress, or that Clinton was the main breadwinner in her household while Bill pursued his political convictions or that she had a successful career as a lawyer or that when she was campaigning went to great lengths to connect with her potential constituents. The only message they take away is "Voters like blondes".

ETA: can you imagine Ann Romney appearing on the Daily Show like Elizabeth Warren did?

24. they're like monsters in a scary movie

They just keep coming back! I used to enjoy hearing about their post election meltdown and hearing Romney's hateful, misguided opinions smacked down by both parties, but any discussion of them returning to politics is scary, batshit crazy, funny, creepy, and annoying at the same time.

Why don't republicans understand that Ann, Tagg & co. are just as unlikable as Mitt? Leave America alone!

Now Mitt's sons, they have public service experience, from campaigning for him, so you might have something there...
