Obama's Bad-Cop Act is Working

"SNIP...............................................

President Obama and Vice President Joe Biden are settling into a good-cop, bad-cop routine. Biden supplies empathy, negotiating skills, and comic relief. Obama is assertive, sometimes combative, clear about what he wants and when he wants it, and given to reminders that a) he won the election and b) polls show the public agrees with his agenda.

To Republicans, some of whom are coming to recognize that compromises are necessary and even sometimes in their political interest, it feels like Obama is kicking them when they are down. (See House Speaker John Boehner: Obama is trying to “annihilate” the GOP.) For the Kumbaya crowd, with whom I have some sympathy, the signs do not bode well for an outbreak of intimate bipartisan dinner parties at the White House, or regular presidential golf and basketball outings with Republican pals. A revival of the fabled Ronald Reagan-Tip O’Neill relationship--friends after 6 p.m.--is not in the offing between Obama and Boehner.

“We can do more” to cultivate relationships, conceded senior White House adviser Dan Pfeiffer, and said that it would happen. “But this idea that if the president just played golf with the speaker more often or broke bread with McConnell more often, all of our problems would be solved, is a relic of an entirely different era.”

The White House doesn’t have much incentive to rejigger because, surprise, polls, by and large, show that a majority of Americans like this unapologetic second-term Obama. Six in 10 people viewed him favorably in one recent poll.

1. Oh Noooos, the President is kicking the GOP when they are down!

Some Republicans say it will be difficult to impossible for them to trust Obama. (His public statements since the election--particularly his Jan. 14 lecture to Congress about paying its bills--have been like “fingernails on the chalkboard,” a top strategist told me.)

Really GOP, impossible to trust Obama. Have at Mr. President, keep raking your nails on the chaulkboard! Thank you, applegrove.

4. SCREW 'em! There've been PLENTY of bastards in the GOP who kicked us when we were down.

Laughed at us. I'll NEVER forget the cruelty after the election was stolen from John Kerry in 2004. HORRIBLE. They kicked us in the teeth, laughed at us, scorned our upset, spit on us. And that was 2004. Remember 2000? Remember the "Brooks Brothers Riot" and the "Sore Loserman" shit? AWFUL.

I have no sympathy, and THEY have it coming!!!

Reap what you sow, you ASSHOLES!

7. And when we win we have to play nice, don't be sore winners

don't take joy in winning, don't remind them they lost.

Their stated goal is the destruction of any opposition, they really would hunt us down and kill us if they could figure out how to do it (the scary part is it's not hyperbolic, or an anti gun statement, there are enough of them that would be eager to kill as many liberals as they can) Never forget who you are dealing with. If you give them a taste of what they give out, then maybe they will respect us in the morning.

5. Heh

The republicans painted him as a bad guy so what the heck. Play the big bad mean guy.

And now Obama's even been caught with a shotgun! Oh Lawd, them gunners ain't gonna cotton to that very well. Obama has taken just about all their marbles.

Too bad they aren't up for a real chess game, that McConnel and Beohner, it would be neat to see them Kingin' Obama every time. Well the next four years, barring calamity and catastrophe, is sure looking less and less like the Bush days. Sure don't miss the 00's.
