bwahahah: Massachusetts GOP reaching out to Romneys for a Senate run?

Casting about for a viable GOP candidate for the Senate seat being vacated by Sen. John Kerry, Massachusetts Republicans are looking to two key members of Team Romney who dramatically raised their national profiles during last year’s presidential contest: Ann Romney, the wife of the candidate, and Taggart “Tagg” Romney, the candidate’s oldest son.

The Boston Herald reported Saturday that party leaders are talking about Mrs. Romney, even though she has expressed no interest in the seat and has never run for public office.

A special election will be held June 25 to replace Mr. Kerry, who is leaving to take over as secretary of state in the Obama administration.

Mrs. Romney was considered one of Mitt Romney’s biggest assets on the campaign trail, and her story of surviving multiple sclerosis and her well-received GOP convention speech have made her a popular figure in Massachusetts, according to the Herald’s Hillary Chabot.

In Utah, may be, but in MA, he could not even run for reelection in 2006. What makes them think he would be able to run now? As for Ann or Tagg, they will be creamed.

What bull shit! She hasn't survived it, the Queen still has the damned disease. She just has the weakest form of it, relapsing/remitting but it's still hell to live with (I have it too). An ex in-law also had the disease, had a relapse, was diagnosed, went into remission and never again had a relapse until 25 years later when he was walking off a golf course and his legs gave out. It was all down hill for the ex-in-law after that.

42. Well. You opinion is like an asshole.

I have lived in the state for decades and have experienced many political races. Independents out number democrats in my state and are prone to buying into a good story by a republican that hides his or her intentions. Instead of bringing out someone that has a well defined public record, I expect that republicans will bring out an unknown who will be speaking soothing words and hiding his or her politics. I don't need or want people from outside this state making comments. You brother is ok making comments, but not you, I don't care if you lived here once upon a time, long ago. You know nothing about how modern politics in this state operates outside of the potentially unrealistic views of your brother.

Markey should beat the poser Lynch in the April democratic primary, but then Markey must run a sustained, tough reality based race in the general and quickly bury his republican rival before special election voting day.

70. Uh, okay....

My point here was that the average person in Massachusetts had no negative opinion of Scott Brown prior to his election to the Senate. That's why he had a chance the first time out. What frightened me more was how many Democrats told me they were going to vote for him over Warren because he "wasn't that bad" for a Rethug and he hadn't held the job long enough to deserve losing his seat. Fortunately, in a presidential year, he still had no chance.

Meanwhile, Shitt Rmoney is hated in Massachusetts. People would come out in a special election to vote against him.

43. The Cabots and Lodges are likely democrats now, or have no interest in running.

The Massachusetts republican party has declined to a pale shadow. The party has a few lifelong republicans from republican families like Charlie Baker or Bill Weld that could run, but those people have to decide whether they will side with southern republicans on votes, if they do win the special election and side with southern republicans during votes, they will be defeated during the 2014 election, like Brown was defeated in the 2012 election.

That would mean she would actually have to work, not just show up looking glamorous which, I'm sure, is all she would have accomplished had she become our First Lady. She wants the status - not the grunt work of having to mingle with the great unwashed masses. Not to mention her unpopularity. The GOP must be desperate.

73. Mass GOP is seriously reaching.

They are desperate. William Weld would have been their best choice, but he declined. (BTW, Weld is the ONLY Rep. I have ever voted for in my life - vs. the insane John Silber, DINO.)

75. pRESENT GOOD SPEECH = sENATORIAL COMPETENCE?

What kind of bait and switch are they trying to pull?

It's like they just want a body to fill the spot and then someone else will write the speaches and run the show.

I think that's what was going on with Mit - The Koch's wanted to get someone into office and then run the show themselves.

Look at all the people who have 20 years experience in congress and aren't worth a hill of beans. So they want to take someone who gave a good delivery to a speech someone else wrote and make her a senator?

The repukes keep on pulling these acts of stupidity and expect to be taken seriously.

Something ain't right in Denmark!
