Rumors:

-- North Korea has been placed under Martial Law

-- Spring could see a war started on Iran

-- Now Israeli Warplanes fly over Syria.

10. I've heard of each of those things multiple times in the last year alone

Israel sends aircraft over Syria regularly (though this is the first time in a few years that they've blown something up); North Korea is incapable of communicating in anything other than militaristic bombast ("weather forecast for tomorrow is sunny with a chance of DEATH TO THE ENEMIES OF THE STATE!"); and the "we're gonna be at war with Iran in a couple months" thing has been a constant, utterly utterly constant, refrain on DU since at least the invasion of Iraq.

There's absolutely nothing unusual going on there; just standard fearmongering in the news. People might react a bit more strongly since a few of them hit headlines at the same time as opposed to over the course of a couple weeks, but really, the only unusual thing here was the Israeli airstrike and, as I said, that's happened before.

7. Supposedly Iran signed a defensive pact with North Korea.

At least that's what the war mongering conspiracy theorists who run Fox would have you believe.

8. I also wonder about

Pakistan? I'm afraid some evil entity might try to commandeer the government to gain control of their nukes. Turkey has 'em, Israel is chock full o' nukes, South Korea, the US, this world is a regular tinder box.....

11. Thank God we've got Barack Obama and Joe Biden

And not John McCain and Sarah Palin, or Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan.

12. North Africa is the new Afghanistan

The Al-Queda terrorists are largely the Libyan freedom fighters.

13. Same old, same old. However, the war hawks

and neocons in the Pentagon's intelligence (!) offices are desperate to point out how dangerous the world is and how someone who has actually seen war from the ground (Hagel) should not be appointed Secretary of Defense.

North Korea is trying to extort food, they've played that game for decades. Nobody wants a war on Iran but a bunch of crazy neocons. Even the hardliners in Israel aren't quite that stupid, although they might want to bully the US into doing their dirty work, the way they did over Iraq. Of course Israel is flying over Syria. It's next door and they want to know what they're up to.

The main thing we need to do is overrule the neocons until they all get convinced to retire. At that point, most of the war drums will go silent.

14. I have to wonder how North Korea could be placed under Martial Law?

Do the soldiers get replaced by even more soldiers?

There will never be a war with Iran. They've been saber rattling for at least 6 years.
