NO, We Were Right -You Were WRONG In 03 & 06 & Iraq War Was A MURDEROUS COCK-UP From Start To Finish

It was a bizarre, devotional exercise. Hagel was not being asked for his qualifications to lead the Department Of Defense which, it should be noted, is largely an administrative one when it comes to the country's foreign relations. He was being asked to engage in a vague kind of theological debate. He was not being asked to profess his faith to Israel so much as to recant his heresies against the policies of the United States that were produced by adherents of a certain sect. He wasn't being asked to endorse Bibi Netanyahu so much as he was being asked to recant his unorthodox opinions as regarding the good works of Bill Kristol or John McCain. He was being asked, en ensemble, by Republicans old and young, essentially the same question John McCain spent six minutes hollering into the wind.

Please admit that we were right.

No. You were wrong. You were wrong in 2003 and you were wrong in 2006 and the Iraq war was a murderous cock-up from start to finish and Hagel, at least, figured that out in midstream.

1. Can you believe those RWing idiots can sit there

in their 1000 dollar suits and pretend that they are not failures on a grand scale? Lied us into a war that they let OUR POTUS get us out of (and don't give him any credit for)! Never even tried to catch OBL. Decided on the disastrous "go it alone" war plan, 'co-co-allison of the willing' (sounds like mercenaries). Used horrible tactics like "shock and awe' on a citizenry that had nothing to do with 9/11.

NEVER found WMDs.

Broke the bank so bad that they couldn't afford to pay people to cut the lawns on bases around the world! Major losers at every step.

I would say the most unqualified persons to decide on things like war and defense ARE sitting in office, in their 1000s dollar suit, pretending they won something or have qualifications to make any kind of recommendation toward war.

Iraq should invalidate any of them from having a valid professional opinion.

2. Someone needs to blow thier top at these assholes

Where is the hearing on Iraq?

The one that shows all the 'evidence' was clearly lies before the war, they continued to use lies in the state of the union after they knew they were lies because as Condi said "people simply forgot"

They wasted our treasury on outrageous no bid contracts and overpaid mercenaries, and they have never even apologized or admitted making a mistake.

They have never admitted making one mistake and are blaming the victims of their policies for what they did....it is such bullshit I could scream.

5. And where, pray tell, were the Democrats to correct the record?

When will a Democratic senator give the warmongers, liars, idiots and apologists the what's for?

America has been living a lie since Nov. 22, 1963.

6. Imo, those ideologically-driven questions were being asked on behalf of those who make a "killing"

off of war: the industrial military complex, who put these politicians in place with huge contributions to keep the gravy train flowing.

That's what came to me while watching Rachel Maddow discuss what her guest Steve Clemons termed as "bizarre theater" on last night's show. Inhofe questioned Hagel in a stumbling manner, even accusing Hagel of being a "traitor" due to his stance on Iran. Kelly Ayotte didn't seem to know what she was talking about, Ted Cruz gave cable-news-stunt style questions, & McCain was clearly fixated on relitigating the Iraq invasion "war".

Very odd, because Hagel was co-chair of McCain's 2000 presidential campaign. Rachel showed a clip of McCain saying back then that Hagel would make a good secretary of defense one day.

For anyone interested in watching the segment, here's the link: http://www.nbcnews.com/id/26315908/#50660479

7. "Hagel, at least, figured that out in midstream."

Which is WHY I have a big problem with cheering for this REPUBLICAN being given an immensely powerful position in our government.

In 2003, EVERYBODY KNEW Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, and Rice were LYING about Iraq
from the git-go.
Some supported them for personal gain,
some supported them for Political Expediency,
and others because they lacked the COURAGE to stand against popular opinion.

The LAST category is the one that fits Chuck Hagel,
lacking the COURAGE to STAND for what is RIGHT.
For that reason, he shouldn't even be considered for this position.

There ARE plenty of DEMOCRATS who HAVE the necessary courage and integrity,
who STOOD to be COUNTED as against the Invasion of a country that had nothing to do with 9-11.
Can't we find a DEMOCRAT who was RIGHT about Iraq from the Git-Go,
and wasn't afraid to STAND and be counted?

My Opinion.

The Democratic Party Honor Roll
These Democrats should be remembered for their principled stand against the WAR Machine.

Are you aware that not a single Democrat who had the courage and integrity to stand against the Invasion of Iraq was nominated or appointed to a position of power or authority in the current administration?

You will know them by their WORKS,
not by their rhetoric, promises, or excuses.

8. For Pete's sake Sen Hagel, they need you to recant so that

history books will have you supporting what wise men they were. They have a legacy to leave, for Pete's sake! McCain was pathetic. I kept thinking old age dementia for sure. And Jeff Sessions, my god! He had a written script that he kept losing his place, and fumbling thru' the pages. Getting his words confused and his paragraphs mixed up. Another pathetic grinch driven by ignorance and venality

Lindsey Graham playing Mr. Smartass-Gotcha. Ugh. The ultimate punishing, humiliating father figure. Talking to Hagel like he was a school boy, who said a dirty word. Graham must be super scared about getting primaried.

Then there's Ted Cruz the hotdog, my senator. 1 word: AMBITIOUS

11. Lotsa good quips, including:

"Hagel's not running to be a diplomat and, frankly, given our experience with that steaming hunk of neocon man-meat, Don Rumsfeld, I'd just as soon not have the Defense Secretary involved in the formulation of foreign policy as much as he is in making sure the grunts who have to carry it out have sufficient body armor."
