11. Wow, this is wonderful news!

Welcome to DU, Sgt. Haag! I am very happy to hear you are doing well and will be out soon.

Thanks, ellisonz, for this OP. I remember the photo, very moving and heartwrenching at the same time. Without this OP I would not have known the good news!

12. I just saw that OP for the first time.

It would have been an effort for Obama to keep his composure at that particular moment.
I'm so proud he is my President. And it's good to hear Chase is on the mend.

14. Best wishes to Sgt. Haag

As a combat vet, he's my brother. As a Purple Heart vet, he's my brother. And in undergoing extensive hospital treatment for his wounds, he's my brother.

iirc, Sgt. Haag wanted to go back to Germany. Whatever happens, I hope he will go on to pursue his hopes and dreams.

He said he was kind of out of it on pain meds when the President visited. I hope that he'll be able to go on now, clear-eyed and clear-headed, and that he'll be an advocate for vets.

21. Group photo,

I will try to get one when my company comes back from Afghanistan, a group shot of the 4 people that made up the truck I was in. They have been recovering very well. One of the Soldiers lost his legs and is back to running, I hopefully get a pic soon.

22. We look forward to seeing it!

Glad to hear that they are also doing so well. Medical technology can do some amazing things these days, but it also takes the willpower of the patient to make it work. My step-mother is an occupational therapist and I spent several summers helping her in nursing homes. The road to recovery from a severe injury is no cake-walk, it takes a lot of heart to want to get up every day and get moving.
