Flying drones in Africa to protect the dollar and the continuation of PNAC policies.
"Whenever Beijing says it needs more gold, this is justified as a hedge "against risks in foreign reserves" - aka US dollar fluctuation - but especially to "promote yuan globalization". As in, suavely, having the yuan compete with the US dollar and the euro "fairly" in the "international market".
And here's the (elusive) heart of the matter. What Beijing actually wants is to get rid of the US dollar peg. For that to happen, it needs vast gold reserves. So here's Beijing pivoting from the US dollar to the yuan - and trying to sway vast swathes of the global economy to follow the path. This golden rule is Beijing's Maltese Falcon: "The stuff dreams are made of".
So once again a US president is willing to commit acts illegal and immoral to protect the almighty petrodollar. Bush, Cheney and their PNAC buddies were more than willing to do what was needed, launching an assault on Iraq in order to protect the petrodollar. Now it looks like this administration is more than willing to launch covert warfare in Africa and elsewhere to do the same.
Of course this has far reaching ramifications for us as well. Not only are we going to be paying dearly to keep the petrodollar king(and thus continue to prop up the oil masters who make vast sums of money), but it also means that we simply aren't going to transition off of oil anytime soon, thus dooming us to a future of ongoing pollution and ever increasing energy prices. Not to mention the threat to us, the American people, as more and more people around the world seek to take revenge upon us for all of these "fun and games" that are being done in our name.
The Great Game of the late 19th and early 20th centuries led directly to the War to end all Wars. If we continue to play by the PNAC playbook, we're going to pay for it with an end to life on this planet, either through massive war, including nuclear war, or through the devastation of ever increasing climate change.
It is time to end this madness. The only ones who benefit are the rich and elite, and that comes at the expense of everybody else on this planet.
