Guns like vehicles
*Handguns and rifles registered and insured.
*Buyers to receive a thorough background check and licensed for proof of proficiency.
*Sales involve proof of insurance and title transfer just like a vehicle.

There could be insurance discounts for gun safes, a lack of children, a record of no accidents for a long time (that ought to be the norm).

8. The practical difference is that cars are big and usually in public
While guns are small and usually in the home.
If I have a car without a license plate out, a cop will see it and pull me over because I'm probably up to no good.
If I have an unregistered gun out, I'm also up to no good, but it's probably in my pocket and nobody sees it until I do my no good. Imagine if cops could only pull over drivers after a wreck.
I like the licensing idea because it makes background checks easier, but the privacy of the home does away with a lot of the benefits the regime brings for cars.
