1. OR, we could all just RESPECT what she's currently saying which is that she just wants

some time to rest, recover, and relax and QUIT PRESSURING HER between now and say a year from now.

It seems to me that all this pressure RIGHT NOW to get her to run in four years is just plain dis-fucking-respectful of the woman y'all claim you want to be the leader of the free world.

2. sorry, I disagree. Just yesterday she indicated she was running IMHO

the point of now is to keep the nevergonnabees from entering the race.

make it as smooth as possible straight ahead to the general election.

Just hillary45 and VP for a third time Biden.
those are the only candidates necessary and focus on Nov.2016.

btw, having a 2016 in place will rev up the GOTV for 2014.

We need Bill Clinton full force in all states to GOTV in 2014.

What better way to motivate him, than to know he is coming back to the white house two years after 2014.

especially for those who want a continuation of President Obama's two terms, and those like me that like the way this country is going and need Hillary45/Biden to continue the same
forward progress

bttw, we need to elected McAuliffe in Virginia, even if some don't like him.
He needs to win.

stupid ass of himself ... But then .. 'Pride and Prejudice' would have been a very boring book. (this year is the 200th anniversary of the novel BTW)

I don't wish to stop anyone wanting to profess their love for this country .... but would simply like cheer Hillary on.

I dont think she is unhappy about the 'pressure' .. in fact I think she likes it ...

19. My angle is the continuation of Pres. Barack Obama's first two terms by President Hillary45

as Bing Crosby said in White Christmas, and the statement is never wrong when it came to politics-everybody has an angle.

me, I would like it smooth as possible to Nov. 2016 and focus on the repub candidate
(most likely Jeb/Christie or Jeb/Brown if he wins).

And it also frees up all the other nevergonnabees to doing their elected job they are currently in without distraction of a race they won't win

IMHO

and the best thing for 2014 is knowledge of 2016, no surprises

We can win back the house and keep the senate if we do that

IMHO
(and except for the 3rd party run in 2000, I have not been wrong in my strategy or thought on who would win the election, no matter if I voted for that person or not).

That said, your angle sucks rotten eggs in my opinion. It's way too early, she's requested down time, and Obama's presidency to date has been essentially Bush lite so I don't actually want more of it after 2016.

29. Thanks for showing your angle.

At least you admitted it.

btw, you don't speak for Hillary either.

I see that line though, same as Bush.Wow, that is RalphNader speak IMHO
you are entitled to your opinion, more power to you. However,
last thing we need is 2000 when Nader stole the election.

Hillary is no fan of Ralph Nader I bet.
I don't know any fan of the democratic party who is, in my vast ring of people I know.

and all of them have angles.
like it or not
everybody has one

That was one of the greatest lines I ever saw, that and the one from Billion Dollar Baby
where the sign said
A winner does what a loser won't

winners get seated.
44 numbers, 43 different people
immortals all
anyone who wasn't seated didn't win because htey were not seated

we don't live in a gentleman's game world.

Howard Dean never screamed, but that forever silenced him as a force.
It should have been Jerry Brown and Jesse Jackson in 1992, but it wasn't.
smear took him down
Fair?
What's the difference.
It does not matter if it is fair or unfair.

What matters is winning by being seated.

Dukakis is one of the smartest, nicest people in the world.
He was screwed, sure, but he wasn't seated.

You gotta be in it to win it, is how the lotto line goes.
And it's true in politics.

and that placemat of the presidents has
#42 Bill Clinton
#44 Barack Obama
and will have the first woman president in 2017 added to the list.

alot better than having the picture of Chris Christie, Jeb Bush or Ryan on it.

right?

34. we are not doing anything to prevent her rest and all.

but the only reason she did not win in 2008 was because of President Obama's voters
2016 she will have 95% of them or more.(me and the others that would wait 20 hours on line to vote, or vote early to have my vote locked in).

Hillary would easily have beaten McCain
There were two titans that ran in 2008. Both equals. But only one could be seated.

I was wearing my Obama 2004 button in 2004.
YES 2004.

and we need the 2008 and 2012 enthusiasm in 2014

Hillary can have all the down time she needs

But Bill needs to avidly be enthusiastic in 2014 to win back the house and hold the senate
and help turn Texas blue.

I want all of Bill's help.

We saw what happened when Bill was shunned in 2000.

Bill's help is mega important. 2nd only to President Obama's avid support.

We need all the anti-gun people's help too.

Bill also saw the influence of the NRA.

But Hillary should not involve herself directly in that issue.

But President Bill can. VP Joe Biden can.

and combine the Obama/Clinton voters together and it's a massive landslide, and a democratic supermajority in 2014, 2016, and forever more.

Rush LImbaugh said something about President Obama wanting to get rid of the republicantealibertarian party.

To that, I say
HELL YEAH!

Every district in every state, make the repubs go the way of the Whigs.

BTW, does a business close for vactation?

A billion dollars will be needed for funding.
One dollar more in every district in the nation than the repubs have.
One dollar more.

no, I am not against money, long as it leads seating. One has to play the game as it is
on the table. One side can't have gentleman's rules when the other side are vicious and dirty.

A winner does what a loser won't.
nothing else matters.

IMHO, feel free to disagree.

So the rest of it is moot. Clearly I don't agree. Whether she is aware of your little opinions or mine doesn't matter. It's not the reflection on her I'm commenting on. I watch her though as one pundit after another and over and over and she's a gracious and graceful as she can be, but ... how can we who supposedly are roughly or completely on her side blame the Republicans at the Senate hearing for asking and re-asking the same damn things over and over even after she's answered when you folks on our side can't seem to offer her the same respect you demand others give her.

stop talking about it until, say, late 2014.

We are doing nobody's potential candidacy any good by talking about it four years in advance. It only gives any opposition incentive and time to organize against. Let's live in the here and now. There's a slew of important legislation coming up in just the next few months that we should be using all our efforts to support. We've got a president who has 3 years and 50 weeks left to govern.

I love Hillary, but stop it!

24. don't you want to GOTV for 2014? We need Bill to avidly campaign

and the knowledge of HIllary will insure he avidly campaigns

You do realize the rpeubicans are running

You do realize the very early defining of Mitt caused his devastating major landslide loss in 2012, right?

There are no time outs, no days off.

That is how 2010 was stolen by the ones who protested, and the ones who from day one were not told how important it is.

Hillary don't need to officially announce til 2015(and for specific official reasons, only a fool would, due to financial regulations do just that.

Rules change once official.

but there is no better way to GOTV in 2014 than for people excited about 2016

as we all know, major turnouts happen in presidentials
little turnouts in other years

excitement leads to major turnouts to GOTV

39. I don't think you quite understand what GOTV means

It's a very specific term that refers to efforts in the last weeks and days of an election to make sure that the people that a campaign has already identified as supporters physically get to the polls. It involves either personal telephone calls or door knocks to remind people of the day of the election and make sure they know the current location of their polling place. It also involves asking the person whether they intend to vote, and calling back until you find they have actually gone to do so; then marking them off on the list, so that you can move on to those who have not yet voted. It's a way of tracking your voters to make sure that all the people who have said they support you actually act on it.

It's not the same as canvassing, and it's certainly not the same as "exciting" people about upcoming elections. And no, rumors right now about Hillary running will have no effect on very specific races in local Congressional districts. At all.

53. It will be continued in late October/early November 2013

In the meantime, OFA, is dedicated to mobilizing members (of which I am one) in support of gun control legislation, the debt ceiling debate, presidential cabinet appointments, and other issues pending. These things are NOT "Get Out the Vote." They are policy influence. (Head slap again.)

*Actually, GOTV efforts will occur briefly again in mid-June of this year for the MA Senate race. As an active OFA member since 2007-8, I joined others at the local office in Chicago to make GOTV calls to MA Democrats to vote for Coakley. Didn't work.

Please, again: facebook liking a Hillary Clinton page four years in advance of any election has nothing--zero, nada, zilch--to do with GOTV.

55. 2010 didn't work because of the Naderites thinking protest by staying home is groovy

Last edited Wed Jan 30, 2013, 08:10 PM - Edit history (1)

it ain't.

one votes for the candidate in the Democratic column and/or the one who will caucus with democratic candidate when the democratic candidate can't win in those few times

any other vote or protest is a vote for the opposition

Paul Wellstone knew that and so did Dennis Kucinich.
the worst democratic candidate is better than the best republican

any protest vote is while legal, a waste of one democratic vote.

Minus votes count
there are no votes not needed

one cannot say GOTV, then they themselves vote in protest for the non-dem.

IMHO feel free to disagree.

and of course, in 1968, any candidate besides LBJ, was to the right of him. ANY OTHER ONE.
Nobody was more liberal than LBJ.
But he was sold down the river too

Somebody younger. Why? Younger voters lean democrat, heavily. They just don't vote enough. Why? Because people keep sending up people completely and utterly out of touch with the young voters. Republican AND Democrat. That's where their apathy is.

And you want to send not one but two people in that age bracket.

Furthermore, we need to start promoting the younger members of the party. Fresh faces, fresh ideas, new blood. Cause if you keep going back to the Clinton-Obama well time after time, that shit's gonna dry up fast. I certainly have no issue electing a 1-term senator to the White House, if they can land the job. Most of the people on this board, in fact, don't. Do you?

46. You are amazing!!! I think Hillary the Inevitable meme in 2008 hurt her. If people love her so much

please STOP building her up. It could backfire.

59. One thing for sure, no criticism from the right for Hillary

They'r chomping at the bit with all the issues they haven't forgotten yet, plus some new ones...they must be celebrating and "joining" in the enthusiasm for her.

36. For any potential candidate to be out this early can bad

it can lead to oversaturation, even supporters would be strained to maintain enthusiasm for the next 4 years.

47. Exactly! It could backfire; or, could lead some to be turned off in the future. The more I think

about it, in fact, the more I fear that there may be a set up: The Corporate Media pushing a pro-Hillary meme; Democrats and Republicans falling in line pushing Hillary the Inevitable as the candidate. And what happens? Same thing that happened in 2008--people wanting fresh blood. A new face. A rejection of the Old Guard.

The electorate will be much younger in a few years, many young voters who don't remember much about the Clintons other than what's in the history books and Monica Lewinsky. Some might be turned off by the "it's our turn" movement starring the Bushes and the Clintons.

I think we ought to be extremely careful about what we wish for.

Better yet, why not work towards 2014 and elect more progressive Democrats.

Even better...why not respect our current Commander In Chief who has NOT been able to enjoy the fact that he was just reelected due to all the talk of being a "lame duck" and what's happening in 2016. It's really unfair to him.

62. actually, the only ones talking about lame ducks are the rightwing media aka the haters

Obama having his heir apparent in place
assures the nation that he will not be a lame duck at all.

Everything Obama is doing now is set up to destroy the republican party and lead to a great 2014, but better yet, a full victory on all fronts in 2016.

btw, anyone on the ballot on the democratic line, or those that will caucus in the rare instances that a democratic candidate can't win, are fine by me.
I don't even care what htey stand for, but for max effect, all should be anti-gun, and take all the money needed to destroy the NRA that will be given by the superpac funded by the great Equalizer.
I am not demanding, nor do I waste a vote in protest.

It's funny the it seems like the only ones who don't want talk about Hillary45 use the age or progressive line,
which to me, means they actually don't want Hillary45 and know, the more talk there is
the less their candidates will get any oxygen

which is the way it should be. Let the other side have a civil war.

Biden should run to flank Hillary45 and be the VP again, so we don't have an Edwards situation in 2017, where the VP has desires to move up too quickly.

All the others should continue in the job they are elected to.

Some of the other names would lose 48 states or be dukakissed by Jeb

It takes a Clinton and a village of core Obama voters like me, to defeat Jeb Bush or Chris Christie

it's not like some fringe rightwing extremist is going to be nominated and make it easy.

Ageism is as bad as any other ism. imho

48. 2014 is the time to send the message to the Republicans and to Hillary. Tea Party knew what was

necessary to pull their party to the Hard Right. It is not that different from the imperative facing the Liberal/Progressives in 2012-2014.

It's less about Hillary than it is bucking up/carrying the water for the Left's image to others, and ourselves. She, or any other candidate, will be pulled toward whatever direction the power is given to her to use.

or better yet Bernie Sanders, too bad he won't run. Alan Grayson would also make a good President.

l love him..we need more like him...many more like him in the congress....but a price to pay for such outspokenness is that he will never get to be president

I feel like he actually cares for the American people not just the his donors.
