Fear destroys brain cells

I've come to this conclusion after witnessing the gun rights advocates like LaPierre, the passing of laws to allow armed guards (pure police state stuff)in schools.Arkansas passing a law to allow concealed carry weapons in Churches and all the other concealed weapons laws and stand your ground laws (that poor teen who got shot because his GPS was not working and he drove into a gun nut's driveway accidentally) The irrationally and fear is so evident that the Fox/Rush/NRA fear machines are causing people's brain cells to die off and they lose rationality. I can not live my life in fear that some crazy tea-bagger gun toting idiot is going shoot up my community. You would think 20 innocent children and 6 adult educators would make people reconsider their stances on assault weapons but, NO, all they want to do is increase them in our society. I guess until one of those gun lovers is affected directly they will change their minds but that is doubtful because they probably can no longer be ration in their thinking because of the depletion of functioning brain cells.

8. If this is correct, and I don't doubt it is ...

I know more than a few people who were apparently stressed out at an early age.

3. Fear is a function of our most primitive brain parts. It needs to be over-ruled by our higher brain

functions.

Unfortunately, appeals by logic don't work that well in countering fear.

4. That's what Frank Herbert thought

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

10. I like to think of them as It, like an enormous Black Creep,

like the Dementors of whatchamacallit.
this darkness that has seized the minds and hearts of people,
casting a fog over the land ...
everyone in a fog.

& out of the fog emerges ta-da..!

the little Creeps of Darkness, the tea parties, the gun fiends,
the haters and cheaters, all the little liars.. who coincidentally
feed on darkness and ignorance, and can not tolerate light.

When the sun comes up, as it does, and as it is right now,
starting to come up over the horizon, Fear begins losing its
hold as people awaken and the fog starts lifting. The dark
little monsters everywhere are illuminated, and soon people
are laughing at them, not running from them, not giving
them money or time, not believing them.

In the darkness a pile of laundry appears to be a powerful
and dire-consequence-creating monster. When the sun
is up, it's just dirty laundry, easy enough to clean up.

7. Fear makes your circle of empathy shrink. Why the NRA and the GOP keep their bases in constant

fear.
