Rachel Maddow Calls Out Sen.Ted Cruz, ‘THATS SOME BRASS SENATOR’

Another tough-talkin, belt buckle swaying POS RETHUG CHICKENHAWK!!

Rachel Maddow called out the “brass” of Texas Republican Senator Ted Cruz for claiming that decorated veterans Senator John Kerry (R-MA) and former Senator Chuck Hagel (R-NE) don’t support the military. Why? Because Senator Cruz has never served in the military. Senator John Kerry has been nominated and now confirmed as the new Secretary of State and former Senator Chuck Hagel has been nominated as the Secretary of Defense. Republicans have been reaching deep to try to block both nominations (it’s what they do). Kerry, the son of an Army Air Corps veteran, is the recipient of the Silver Star, Bronze Star, and three Purple Hearts earned while serving in Vietnam. Hagel is the recipient of two Purple Hearts while an infantry squad leader in the Vietnam War.

Whereas, Rafael Edward “Ted” Cruz is a junior tea party Senator from Texas who never served in the military. Ted Cruz was born in Canada to a Cuban immigrant (his father) to the U.S., he did very well at Princeton and then went to Harvard Law School. Good for him. Naturally, given his expertise on the matter and his junior status in the Senate, he had no problem saying that two decorated war veterans don’t support the military.

Rachel didn’t take to that too well. She said, “It was therefore pretty breathtaking when Senator Ted Cruz voiced his opposition to Senator Kerry’s nomination to the State Department and to the nomination of Chuck Hagel to the Defense Department. Chuck Hagel received two purple hearts in Vietnam and walks around every day with shrapnel in his chest. It was pretty remarkable when we heard the reason that Senator Ted Cruz said that those two wounded combat veterans are not going to get his vote in the Senate.” Ms. Maddow then rolled a clip of Ted Cruz speaking at what appears to be a National Institute Review event. Cruz lectured, “We’ve got two pending nominations, John Kerry and Chuck Hagel. Both of whom are very prominently —” An audience member yelled out, “Anti-us!”

Cruz is very amused with himself. He might be doing stand up comedy, the set-up is that great. Cruz preened, “— less than ardent fans of the U.S. military.” Rachel deadpaned, “They don’t love the military, not like he does. He’s the junior Senator from Texas. Ah, there are no medals for a declaration like that, but technically speaking, I think what we’re supposed to say is, ‘That’s some brass, Senator.’” It seems there’s nothing a tea party representative does better than self-aggrandizingly elevate their own stature while heaping clueless scorn on others who have earned their positions through merit and bravery.

1. Nobody hates US military more than GOP chickenhawks who send others to die for their hubris & greed.

Knowing they and their cronies will profit off the certain deaths of military personnel and innocent civilians makes them as evil as it gets.

it's the people IN the military (or IN America) that they have no use or respect for.

8. I agree.....

I used to watch her regularly but my schedule makes it a bit difficult to tune in each evening recently.

But during the time I watched regularly or have the opportunity to tune in now I have never seen her be anything but respectful to anyone she has on her show. She may be very frank and terse with her guests if they try to avoid her questions or divert the topic but she has always been respectful.

And in fact when she tees up a subject she always asks the guest that has been invited to discuss the subject if she has been factual in her presentation of the issue.

I'm not saying she is not capable of speaking down but I have never seen it and have watched her regularly for the past 3-4 years.

12. I don't think so. She's had the Dream Children on many times.

She's addressed the inhumane way of treating and even calling people "illegal aliens". Just because 2 of the biggest assholes from the tea party are preening, chicken hawk, Cuban-Americans, doesn't mean she's picking on Latino's. she's calling the assholes out for being assholes.

One of the biggest piece of shit hypocrite, liars is my Senator from FL. He tells people his parents came to escape the communist Fidel Castro, but the time line is wrong and really his parents came after the first wave to make a better future for themselves in America (and he's always railing against illegal aliens). He's only lucky Cubans have a special rule about being able to stay once their foot touches American soil, otherwise, his family would have been just like many Mexican Families coming for a better life. Rubio Marco is a tea party, Bush coiffed, asshole. Cruz isn't any better by the sounds of it.

25. When you say "He condescending tone," you must be referring to Cruz.

I have never seen Rachel display bigotry toward anyone. Rightfully accusing Cruz of being a chickenhawk is not bigotry. It has nothing to do with the fact that he is latino. But I assume since you throw out this word, as a "decent human being," you have a basis. So please provide some links, because only a right wing troll would accuse Rachel Maddow of bigotry without any basis.

28. That sounds like conservative "logic."

For example, if you criticize a woman who is an idiot (, Sarah Palin), you are anti-woman. It's a convenient way to change the subject from a legitimate criticism to the claim "you're a bigot."

Rachel did not put down Cruz because he is Latino. She put him down for being a chickenhawk and a fool.

No-one should be immune from criticism. Some people deserve it, and I don't mean minorities or women. I'm talking about fools, which come in every flavor.

many combat vets hold (if not all), with hating the military.

You cannot expect a chicken hawk to be able to tell the difference though. Why I said, he's got a point, but hardly for the reasons he thinks.
