The "Obama trying to annihalate GOP" meme is

just another example of projection on the part of the RW. Rove always talked about a "permanent Republican majority". He wasn't only talking about putting forth a winning set of candidates and ideas. The unspoken part of his plan was to marginalize, undercut and/or destroy the wellsprings of Democratic money and volunteers. It is no surprise that GOP legislative actions target teachers, public service unions, plaintiffs attorneys and the like. The Party stood by while the Republicans killed ACORN. We better realize who our friends are and stand by them. If there is any question of whether a group represents a key element of the Democratic coalition, all you have to do is watch the intensity of the attacks leveled by the RW against them.
It is no wonder that Boehner, Ryan and the rest feel like they are under existential attack, they have been doing it to us for decades.

2. Voters started annihilating the GOP in 2006

...then finished them off in 2008

The Democrats in DC have been breathing life into Boehner's shit party for 4 years, so he's got nothing to complain about

3. Seems to me the GOP is quiet capable of annihalating their own party.

Obama did not make Todd Akin jump up with his stupid statement, Todd Akin did that himself, can't blame Obama for that. The GOP held their own primaries and put Romney at the top of their ticket. Obama did not make Romney talk about the 47%. He did eat Romney's lunch in the last debates. Obama was not on FOX news telling the GOP was going to win by a landslide. No they do a good job of this themselves with stupid statements and stupid bills.

4. It's actually pretty hilarious. They are imploding, because they chose to follow crackpots, and

its Obama's fault. That doesn't seem very self-reliant of them.

What would Ayn Rand say?

5. I agree that the GOP is destroying itself.

What I find interesting is that their reaction reveals what they were trying to do with us, i.e. consign us to minority party status permanently. It also serves as a warning to Democrats to not stand by with our thumbs in our ears while the forces of reaction target our key constituencies like we did when they killed ACORN.

7. David Brooks claims that the President keeps pushing popular

ideas that the Republicans are forced to vote against to their political detriment. As stupid as this sounds, it has become a RW refrain. The other night on MSNBC, one of the GOP operatives accused Obama of forcing the GOP to vote to protect tax cuts for the rich and this was offered as evidence of his malicious intent to destroy the Republican Party. As twisted as this logic is, I think it reveals their view of politics.Their fear of annihilation at our hands suggests that this is exactly what they have been trying to to us. I think this is important to understand how insidious and purposeful their attacks on teachers and unions are. We better stand with our constituency groups or they will be picked off like ACORN was.And we will be the ones rendered a permanent minority.

8. So basically, we're proving that they are beholden to the 1%, and they can't take it!? LOL

You make another good point - we shouldn't be afraid to stand up for our constituencies when they are challenged.

Thanks.

9. You gotta love it. What a clown show.

Thanks, the comments about standing by our allies really was my main point but I think I must have buried the lead.

I guess next they'll be whining that the President stopped caving in to their demands!
