Taco Bell pulls ad that mocked veggies, said people secretly hate guests who bring veggies to party

Taco Bell pulls ad that mocked veggies

NEW YORK (AP) Taco Bell is pulling a TV ad after receiving complaints that it discouraged people from eating vegetables.

The ad by the fast-food chain was touting its variety 12-pack of tacos, with a voiceover saying that bringing a vegetable tray to a party is "like punting on fourth and one." It said that people secretly hate guests who bring vegetables to parties.

The Center for Science in the Public Interest, a health advocacy group, this weekend urged people to tweet their complaints about the ad and the chain quickly made the decision to pull it.

"We didn't want anyone to misinterpret the intent of the ad," says Rob Poetsch, a Taco Bell spokesman.

19. It it was something besides Taco Bell, it may have worked better.

Perhaps, some good BBQ, chicken wings, or steaks. I eat plenty of meat, but if Taco Bell was the only thing available, I'd probably become a vegetarian.

3. Let us face it...

You bring veggies to a party like a Super Bowl Party, you better be ready to eat them yourself.

7. For some but not all. If I DIDN'T bring vegetable dishes to my gangs annual event,

they'd be pissed off.

6. Oh, we haven't misinterpreted the ad AT ALL. Taco Bell hates people who prefer healthy food

because their products are not healthy, and they know it. They want to make more money at the expense of consumer health.

We totally get it.

13. Good!

Taco Bell is one of the greatest contributors to America's obesity crisis. What people need to know is that eating more veggies and less (better no) meat equals healthier and more beautiful bodies.

18. heck I'd eat the tacos and the veggies and dip

I love carrots and tomatoes with ranch dip on them. I'm not that big on the celery or the broccoli. I love steamed broccoli, but can't stand the taste of raw broccoli. and I love tacos, but I prefer to make mine at home so I can have soft corn shell tortillas and I can actually have some cheese on my tacos if I make them at home. They always pile on the lettuce because it is cheap and only put a few slivers of cheese on the tacos.

21. I found it amusing look at it in context

They are speaking of a superbowl party I'm not sure about the rest of you but I've never known superbowl parties to be a healthy affair to begin with. Lots of pizza wings beer 7 layer dips and any number of other things. So in the context of the commercial it was partially true.

22. I would eat the tacos

and munch a few carrots too. I like a creamy garlicy dressing with my veggies.

I did think the commercial was kind of funny. People need to lighten up.
