1. Can I play?

If Merope Gaunt had an abortion, Voldermort would never have been born.

9. You're making my inner nerd show in front of all the other DUers.

There was a prophecy that allowed for another person to kill Voldemorte. If it wasn't Harry Potter, it would have been this other person.

10. Neville was actually the chosen one who stopped Voldemort

He destroyed the final horocrux and refused to sell his soul for power.

12. The contradiction

Harry was only special because Voldermort choose him. Neville Longbottom would have sufficed in Harry's absence, having both Harry and Neville had been born in the month of July and conformed to the prophecy.

Now mind you I am not really a Harry Potter fan, my daughter was. When she was 11 she wanted to read the first book when it came out. Having heard of the controversy about encouraging the occult and witchcraft, I took it upon myself to read the book cover to cover before allowing my daughter to read it so as to insure it was appropriate for her. As the series progressed, I continued the practice of buying the latest book in the series as soon as it came out and then reading it first before allowing my daughter read it (I finished reading them in just a few days because I did not want my daughter to have to wait long... which explains why I stayed awake long into the wee morning hours reading... because I am a good dad). I did the same thing with the movies as well and this continued up through the release of Deathly Hollows Part 2, as I felt it my parental duty to protect my child from possible harmful influences even though she had the attained the age of 21.

That's my story and I am sticking to it.

11. And if Mrs. Voldemort had aborted that ugly evil no-nose fetus of hers

as the attending OB-GYN no doubt urged her to do, Harry wouldn't be a murderer today.
