All the stuff that creates atmosphere in these clubs is flammable, it seems, and all it needs is a drunk being clumsy with a lighter or a band being clumsy with pyrotechnics.

According to the linked article, the club was set ablaze by "a band's fireworks display."

Those of us who are seriously into crowd safety remember that the Station Night Club in West Warwick, R.I., was set ablaze by a band's fireworks display.

In the next few days we'll learn that the club had exit doors painted black so they blended in with the wall, flammable decor, no exit signs, no sprinklers locked doors...you know, all the same shit that happened in every other nightclub fire that's occurred since there were nightclubs to catch fire. Apparently floor load isn't a factor here because the maximum occupancy here was 2000 people.

When the Station went up, I asked "when will we ever learn?" The answer, once again, is "not yet, and maybe never."
