TPM writer: Scott Brown's popularity in MA is "sky high" at 55%

"The poll showed Brown continuing to enjoy sky-high popularity as was the case throughout his brief stint in the Senate with 55 percent of voters saying they have a favorable view of the Republican. Markey is a relative unknown throughout the state: 59 percent of voters surveyed offered no opinion of the longtime congressman."

I guess George W. Bush's approval at the end of his President was just "high" by that standard.

2. Too bad they do not say the survey polls about 400 registered voters throughout the state,

BTW, he had the same favs during the 2012 election. Did not win.

4. I don't think Governor Patrick did us any favors with his recent firearms proposal.

Pretty poor timing considering Senator Kerry will probably be leaving soon.

6. May be in Central Mass, but these people already vote GOP, so I am not that worried about that.

But you're right. We're leaving in a part of MA that has a number of Tea Party people. If I had believed the ROmney Brown signs where I live, it would have thought that Obama and Warren would have lost the race.

7. Did Patrick propose unpopular things?

Can you cite his proposals so we can have an idea how pissed off or not Massachussets people may be at him right now?

8. The poster lives in a part of MA where there are quite a few Tea Party people

if his profile is correct. They will see any proposal by Deval Patrick as unpopular.

12. I am pretty sure you can google it for details. Basicly it seems like he is piggybackimg on the

recent NY State firearms proposal. It might work against dems by stripping away votes. Then again it might not make any difference at all.

I would'nt change my vote but I know plenty of people would.

13. I think you know zero people who would change their vote because of this

Give me an analysis of how independents, Democrats and conservatives in MA could change their votes based on the proposals made by Patrick.

Is it the mental health focus part? Is it lowering the 10 bullets to 7 bullets that will change this "people you know"s voting intentions?

14. I think you are wrong.

The proposal will push many to vote for anyone who does not support it.

The entire propsal is seen as objectionable. MA (and NY for that matter) has some of the most restrictive gun laws in the country.

5. Isn't that a level of "popularity" that convinced the "liberally biased media" that

Obama would be hard-pressed to be re-elected with?

11. brown was a senator and just had a state-wide campaign; markey is a congresscritter. that's all.

should that be the contest, markey will become better-known and the numbers will change.

15. Nineteen points higher than what their beloved former governor got last year.

For a Republican, that probably is sky high.
