Gore would have won in 2000, had the electoral vote change put forth by repubs been in place then

the thought about doing this is dying.
Florida and Virginia have key people not going to go along with it,-and they are REPUBLICANS.

it ain't gonna happen.

But its cute to think Gore would indeed have won had Virginia had what they want now in 2000.

Bush would NOT have gotten 270.
Gore would have.

everytime the repubs mess with things, it bites them in the ass soon after.

2. Like pieces of a jigsaw, step by step it happens. Bush got "lucky" with 9-11. Because

Bush was already a failed nothing interim president from election day to Sept. 10, 2000.
Already down to having photo ops with school kids in Florida.
He was doomed to widely lose the next election...

(take out any conspiracy theories here, and I am NOT belittling 9-11 or the effects from it, far opposite actually)

9-11 changed things.

Prior to 9-11, Bush was a failure.

The people didn't like what happened in 2000 and would have easily avenged it in 2004
(most likely with Gore getting a rematch, that in normal times would have happened.)

People don't like rigged systems, even if the republican top elite try it time and again.
MOST people like fair play, or at least enough of them to say NO.

But again, 9-11 delayed things, and made everything bad.

But even after all that, it was just 8 years (a mere few minutes in history time).

and righting all the wrongs takes a while.

But republicans won't end up doing this electoral change, and democratic voters should not rush to get rid of the electoral college.

it is a red herring, trial balloon IMHO to get dems to rush change something that is a hard earned, hard won advantage at just the time dems are going to make alot of red states blue.
