Ah, it looks like a demolition derby out there, SO Cal residents

Be careful out there, serious. There are 25+ highway incidents just in San Diego and South Riverside alone.

1. Why? Rain? Sleet? Snow? Fog?

2. Rain, winter storm.

This is a mild one but people do not slow down regardless.

3. They not only don't slow down, here in L.A. they SPEED UP. And they

swerve to hit water or the street because it's so much fun to make it splash, especially if there are pedestrians to soak.

I can't figure out why hundreds don't die here every time it rains.

5. Lol, I just wrote something along the same lines.

I was stunned when I moved out here and saw what happened during rain.

6. It's terrifying. EVERYBODY speeds up in the rain. Not just a few.

On days like today I'm GLAD my car was stolen. I'd rather walk in it and get soaked than try to safely navigate the roadways.

4. One of the first things I noticed out here is that Angelenos make absolutely

no adjustments for wet roads.

They don't slow down. They don't leave more room between vehicles.

Hell, some of them don't even put on their lights (or maybe even their windshield wipers).

It is, indeed, like driving in a demolition derby.

7. What many fail to realize is that

because of the number of cars on the road and the dry spells in between rain events here... accumulated oil rises to the surface which makes it like driving on ice in many spots. It's always apparent when a cars tires spin out from a full stop.

Those who transplant here or visit aren't aware of that problem and unless someone tells them... they tend to drive like they would in states that get more rainfall and/or have less traffic.
