A rising chorus of congressional Republicans are calling on President Obama to acknowledge that the pop singer Beyoncé lip-synched during his inaugural festivities on Monday and resign from office, effective immediately.
By lip-synching the national anthem, Beyoncé has cast a dark cloud over the Presidents second term, said Sen. Rand Paul (R-Kentucky). The only way President Obama can remove that cloud is by resigning from office at once.
While many in the media have blamed Beyoncé for the lip-synching controversy, Mr. Paul said, We must remember that this happened on President Obamas watch.

(172 posts)shouldn't ever become a controversial end result to a Presidential inauguration. The politics of this should mean nothing.
When I first formed an opinion on this, I first viewed it as a few wealthy greedy Hollywood elite wishing to protect their own reputation while covering up the means of protecting it. How many concerts do they perform using recordings, and how many paying big money are not aware?
If they can't do what they claim they are doing, and instead give us a false impression they are doing something live, when they are not, they have no right doing it at all. It drives me nuts seeing this controversy being handed off to Obama's plate when it should remain on those who did it.
Hollywood is already over rewarded and much too rich for doing way too little of any serious worth. They lie too much, they pretend too much, and they deceive us. Instead of giving the public a multi-millionaire entertainer with private jets and multiple homes, they give us BS instead of transparency.
Call me whatever but there are certain fundamentals of government that I subscribe to and it is always about total honesty and transparency.

(8,352 posts)now that the satire has started.
The number of performers who pre-record their works and lip-sync them in live performances is astonishing these days. No, this did not occur even 20 years ago at the levels it does now. We expect such perfectionism, overly processed music, and imagery over creativity that this has become the norm. It is insane to expect no mistakes from a live performance no matter what the venue.
As I opined in another thread, this is hardly controversy worthy. But it is another instance of someone who just can't be real for whatever her reasons. How hard would it be for her to just say, yeah, it is too big a deal, too cold, and too difficult a song to perform live so we pre-recorded it. That's it. That's honest and understandable.
What makes it an issue for me and others, beyond the hyperbole falsely attributed, is that even three days later she just won't do that. She appears more concerned with her image and maintaining positive PR than just being real.

The grand-units and the mom came along, with me and my big sister. I'm convinced the grand-units must have thought it was gospel music because of their name.
They were frozen in their seats b/c it was LOUD and those clean cut white boys were singing that dreaded Nigra Music.
Mom flew out on her broom to the lobby after the first note, with a headache!!!
