guy starts Papa John's robbery because family is hungry, cries, gets free pizza/wings

Guy Starts Robbery, Changes Mind, Gets Free Pizza
He breaks down, says family is hungry

(AP) A man who apparently summoned the courage to rob a Montana pizza restaurant changed his mind as the clerk started to hand him money, broke down crying, and ended up leaving with a pizza to feed his hungry family. Just after midnight Monday, a man wearing a hooded sweatshirt and a bandanna across his face entered a Papa John's restaurant and handed the clerk a note demanding money, police say.

The cashier started to comply, but then the man started crying and said he was just trying to provide for his family. The clerk offered to make a pizza and some chicken wings, and the man waited while the food was cooked before leaving. Police are trying to locate the would-be robber, though they aren't sure what, if any, charges he might face. "We'd hate to have him do this again," says Helena's police chief.

1. Please note that it was the clerk who was compassionate, not the scum-sucking owner

of the company.

6. Well people do things when they are desperate. I think he'll think twice next time.

Montana isn't a big state. Hopefully he can find a job.

7. There is no law against being hungry...that's part of our social problem.

Hopefully social services will now help the family. Doesn't seem like a hardened criminal.

9. Such a tragic story

Of course the clerk was wonderful and compassionate ... but I can imagine the desperation and pain that must have driven this poor man to do this (it certainly appears this was out of character for him)

16. Clerk was compassionate, not PJ's.

so it is the clerk that was the hero in this situation.

PJ continues to get a big FU from me.
