I'm glad the bus driver is okay. Meanwhile, what happened to the student bystanders, outside and on the bus?

Pretty bizarre story. Why would a kid on his way to school have a gun?

Why is the student packing to school?

3. Yep, just what we need here, more guns. If all of the students were armed they could've taken this

guy out, well, and then had a fun time shooting up the bus, just for practice. Every morning starts the day with gun violence and/or murder.

28. Can you imagine a teenager waking up in a bad mood and goes to the bus stop and

starts up with other teens waiting for the bus and he gets upset and bam starts shooting. No one in the NRA who is normal thinking don't see a problem with this? I'm scared to death for my granddaughter going to school.

31. Yep, and it will happen. The critical mind is really not developed at that age, tensions with

little thought can run high, and impulse control is low. What kind of a society have we become when individuals have to pack lethal weapons as a way of life. "Beam me up Scotty, no intelligent life is here."

37. In fact, the brain's prefrontal cortex, which houses the

"executive function"--i.e., the part the looks clearly to the future and fully understands and appreciates consequences, the part responsible for IMPULSE CONTROL--is not fully developed until at least age 22, and for many people, not until about 25.

7. The driver "drove to a nearby shopping center to report the incident"?

Does that mean that he had no radio or phone? It seems like one or the other should always be available to bus driver.

... why the shopping center was the place to report from. Obviously getting away from the shooter would be the top priority.

Details are changing on this one. Now they are saying the bus driver hit the kid who had the gun. So he shot at her.

14. See... that's what happens...

.. when you don't encourage weapons training with kids.

"Shots were fired"...?

The kid is obviously not shooting correctly, or he'd have hit somebody.

Probably jerking the trigger, or doing that "sideways shooting" thing they do in the movies.

We need an NRA program to teach kids to shoot straight.

Next time, then, maybe that kid will score some hits.

If only more students on that bus had guns, this may not have happened.

24. .

"Witnesses were located who stated a male tried getting on the bus, but the driver wouldn’t let him. After he exited the bus and it was pulling off, the male fired several shots at the bus, then left the scene," police Sgt. Marisa Barnes said in a news release.

A Hickman Mills School District spokesman said a man asked the school bus driver for a ride. When the bus driver refused, the man offered to pay $20, but the driver still refused. The spokesman said that as the driver pulled away, the man fired shots at the bus

38. If that is what happened. it sounds as though he wasn't a student, just

someone who thought he had a right to demand that everyone and everything bend to his wishes and convenience.

The fact that he turned out to be armed and willing to shoot at a busload of kids is a good illustration of why a school bus driver should not be giving rides to people other than the students he has been hired to transport, even if that person offers money for the ride.

26. That's the great thing about having a gun.

You can solve any problem with it.

I remember how happy I was when I got a calculator that could do square roots. Now, if somebody asks me an arithmatic question, I can just shoot them.

I love living in a civilized country!
