Whine...whine...whine

I’m enjoying watching the reaction from Republicans to President Obama’s incredible second inaugural speech. I especially like their whining about the President not reaching out to them.

They way I see it, the Republicans are speeding towards the edge of the cliff and now they want the President to grab their outreached hands and save their tea party asses before the “momentum of their ideology” flings them into the canyon. Sorry dudes, this is your runaway mess. Enjoy the ride.

It takes a special kind of crazy to spend four years walking in lockstep against our President and slapping his outreached hand at every turn, only to cry about him not reaching out to them in the second inaugural. It has become obvious to anyone who is honest with themselves that the Republican Party is bankrupt, out of ideas and has no foundation remaining. They are a reactionary party now, and they don’t seem to be doing that very well either.

Beyond that, they are also becoming a party of whiners. Recent articles by Charles Krauthammer, Michael Gerson and David Brooks give us the best examples of this. Krauthammer started the trend that is best summed up by Smartypants as “conciliatory rhetoric as ruthless strategy”. Here is a piece of Krauthammer’s whine, via Smartypants…

1. I expect to enjoy every moment of the next four years.

... just knowing Obama is still in the White House and it pisses them off intolerably.

"Please proceed at link".. you crack me up, she

"Krauthammer’s whine"
He’s been using this, and I must say with great skill–-and ruthless skill and success–to fracture and basically shatter the Republican opposition… His objective from the very beginning was to break the will of the Republicans in the House, and to create an internal civil war. And he’s done that.

That would fly in the face of all the.. "he caves" "he gives in" "he needs a backbone" Wah wah wah ad nauseum

Thanks for the link, she! Gotta love some Angry Black Lady.. Good stuff

Priceless from David Brooks
“Then he could invite a series of confrontations with Republicans over things like the debt ceiling — make them look like wackos willing to endanger the entire global economy. Along the way, he could highlight women’s issues, social mobility issues (student loans, community college funding) and pick fights on compassion issues, (hurricane relief) — promoting any small, popular spending programs that Republicans will oppose.

As if.. they're not "whackos".

9. Yes, we really need to address this locally. I'm watching everything

my nutcase state senator says and does and I'm not the only one. Dems control both houses in Colorado now, so he's not as scary, but our Sec of State is a teabagger who already tried to play fast and loose with state elections. What happened in Va. was a travesty and can happen anywhere. Guess what? the GOP cheats. Call 'em out.

10. Remember in the beginning he had a special meeting with the Reps.

It was to specifically offer an olive branch and create an opening for both sides to work out their differences together.

They kicked it back in his face and have continued to kick with middle fingers outstretched ever since.

12. What was it called? The "Icee Summit"?

After Obama compared Republicans to running the car into the ditch, and then sipping an Icee while watching the Dems working to actually get the car out of the ditch?

Such a great imaginary graphic. I've been in similar situations where some one goaded me into "trusting them", and then afterwards just laughed while I tried to dig myself out of the mess and said "Well, maybe you shouldn't have trusted me!"

It taught me a lesson, all right...

16. I think you need to educate yourself a little better.

Eight years of Bush....started office with a huge surplus...ended with(YOU GOT IT) running our economy into a ditch.

I would give you facts and figures...however I am afraid you won't be their when I finish typing this message.

Do enjoy your stay! Not!

21. What exactly is puzzling you?

The poster said Our President, compared the GOP, to running the car into the ditch. First I never remember him using those words.

However it is fact that Bush and the GOP, took a huge surplus, and in fact ran this economy into the ground.

Intimating, that this President sits back while others do the heavy lifting, sipping an Icee, to me is rather insulting. I don't think Jazzimov will be around that long with that attitude.

24. Jazzimov was correct...

http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-503544_162-20019115-503544.html

In each of 20 political speeches over the last two months, Mr. Obama has included a riff in which he portrays GOP leaders as sipping Slurpees while hard-working Democrats struggle to pull the economy out of a ditch.

"We're down there. It's hot. We were sweating. Bugs everywhere. We're down there pushing, pushing, pushing on the car. Every once in a while we'd look up and see the Republicans standing there. They're just standing there fanning themselves -- sipping on a Slurpee."

I'm reading it that the GOP drove us into the ditch. Again, I have no issue with you, just reading it differently.

28. The President CLEARLY intimated the metaphor

a number of times. Rs running economy into a ditch; hot day; watching Dems pull the economy out of the ditch while sipping Slurpees.

You are wrong and you owe the poster an apology. The sooner the better.

22. Whine me a river...

K&R

... this is the one single issue that drove democrats to the cliff in POs first term. He bent over backwards, did double back flips, he did everything possible and sometimes even gave in to them. It was maddening. Of course, I never gave up on him, but many did. Thus, many didn't vote at all in the 2010 midterm, which just made things worse. I wasn't one of them. Was I upset, yes. Did I give up? NO!

But the party is over. The Republican party itself is going over a cliff, and PO is not going to save them. Fuck 'em. Democrats are going to set everything up (they've already got the VAWA ready to go again) and Republicans are going to hang themselves in their darling gerrymandered district electorate's eyes. Republicans have backed themselves right into a corner in a lose-lose situation.
