2. So far no one died

3. Concealed carry, yes. Apparently a couple of people "concealed carried" guns to school...

...and got in a gunfight in the halls.

5. I bet none of them had a permit or were even aware of the current laws

I will also bet this is a side affect of another cultural problem we have and not the guns themselves.

7. They could have used illegal baseball bats instead.

Most likely they'd get wacked in the balls ones and be rolling on the floor crying and vomiting, and there wouldn't be stray bullets flying.

15. Or better yet, those little ones they hand out on "Free Bat Night"

I'm not even kidding, this pisses me off. I have a very good friend who just happens to be in a very interesting industry...his business inspects conning towers and industrial steal for corrosion and wear. So he frequently gets called to some crazy places that most regular Americans will never, ever see. Like, climbing the approach light towers at the Costa Rico airport to inspect for wear.

Back when he was doing this full time and building his biz, in Central American countries, white Americans stand out as good kidnap targets. So he's trained to use military weapons and be clandestine. He can fire anything, and I'd trust him with my life.

Even though my friend is not a Tea Bagger, and is actually very intelligent, he's offended that someone "wants to take his guns away."

His argument is that HE was trained to use these weapons. Who is this Obama guy to tell him he can no longer use them?

I just don't know how to respond without offending my friend. I don't have a problem with him having a gun. I know he is very well trained. He's done military-type ops in third world countries. He knows how to handle a weapon.

What I do have a problem with are the YouTube and Yahoo posters who go to the Civic Center gun show and buy a Bushmaster, and then scream that the government is taking away their gun rights.

How is this distinction difficult for people to understand?

And how do I deal with my old buddy without destroying a life-long friendship?

16. So why are you not friendly with your body?

I guess you may not notice something until your about to lose it. That is the way with most people it seems, they don't see the danger ahead until it's in their face. They tend to overreact at that point, which makes the situation even worse most of the time.

As far as your special forces, delta, black ops friend, try just being a friend and don't worry about the politics all the time.

17. I'm do notice bad trolls.

What did I say that any reasonable progressive would not accept?

I am responded to by a low-post-count cat claiming he's a Pediatric Medic, yet he can't compose a sentence using proper punctuation or grammar. I see the danger in my face...it's a Tea Bag, and I ain't doin' it!

8. and two people were caught in the crossfire

they should have been wearing bullet proof vests, leggings and helmet wear.

And an assault rifle, that would have prevented this!

10. If only EVERYBODY had had a gun, there wouldn't be four people shot.

There'd be about ninety people shot.

4. Good thing Houston is safe with all their gunzzzzzzz.

http://www.texasobserver.org/a-few-of-houstons-accidental-gun-deaths/

Looking back on the Houston areaís year in firearms casts doubt on that assumption. A few illustrative selections from Dateline Houstonís files:

March 22: A man in Jacinto City killed himself accidentally when one of the shots he fired in the air hit him in the neck.

June 13: A 17-year-old boy in Alamo died when a bullet he fired at a butane tank ricocheted and hit his head.

June 17: A 24-year-old woman in south Houston was killed when her brother accidentally dropped the gun he was carrying.

July 31: A 12-year-old boy in Waller County accidentally shot and killed his 11-year-old brother with a 12-gauge shotgun after finding it and another shotgun in their parentsí closet. The parents thought the closet was locked.

November 13: A young man in southeast Houston died after he and a neighbor were comparing their guns and one gun accidentally discharged.

Dec 12: A 4-year-old boy in northeast Houston shot himself after climbing on top of his parentsí tall furniture chest and finding a gun kept there for home security. Both parents were home and thought the child was in bed.

Then there are the situations that might not have ended in death if guns hadnít been present.

Yesterday, a 20-year-old man allegedly shot and killed a 30-year-old woman during a road-rage confrontation in far southwest Harris County.

And on Dec 11, a 17-year-old died after being shot by his neighbor during an argument over sneakers.

11. Sounds as if schools have become the new hunting grounds.

Maybe shooters should have to get a permit first?
( that was a caustic remark, in case you could not tell)
