1. At least cowboy hats aren't 600 years old.

2. And old Orrin (blezzz hizzz heart...) looks like Roy Rogers, not like a mendacious murdering

extremist in the court of King Henry VIII!

3. What the hell is that about?

I've never seen him wear that hat here in Utah that I can remember. Anyone from Utah ever seen him wear a cowboy hat?... or does he just do it at the inauguration of Democrat presidents? Or maybe it's a new style like Princess Beatrice's toilet seat hat at the Royal wedding of Prince Andrew.

That's no reflection on cowboy hats, it's wondering about Orrin Hatch... why?

4. Great (ass)hat

That is a really cool hat.

Too bad it was wasted on an ass.

5. Cowboy hats look pretty good with suits. They add character.

Well, this hat failed to add character to Mr. Hatch, but trust me on this. Most times cowboy hats add character to an outfit. And the cowboy hat is a native-born American piece of attire, not some monarchical piece of medieval theocratic affectation.

6. I draw the line at bolo ties, though

I have a Native American beaded hatband on mine (actually it is a reproduction of the one worn by Billy Jack that a sweet Arizona bead artist made for me), because Stetson puts some pretty cheap-ass bands on their US market line of hats, and I agree with your general observation.

However, my rule for bolo ties is that you must be primarily a resident of New Mexico to get away with it.

7. No bolos, but a cameo by Isabella Rossalini
