12. Well we know who stands in the way

and he's got a second chance here. The one area I agree on is that he needs to stop the Reagan luv thang. Yeech.

14. Chuckie Todd with insight on the Reagan thang

Chuckie is sounding convinced! Giving props to Obama for using Reagan as a hook to mainstream progressive policies, using the template of how Reagan mainstreamed the conservative agenda.

Never thought he'd say something so supportive, Chuckie is transforming!

25. I see it a bit differently.

We know that Obama is not a mean spirited soul and I wouldn't expect him to be disrespectful of a past President. And Obama is right - Reagan was a transitional President, he did some really shitty things that still stick with us in a detrimental way to this day. He was a change maker, but not a good one.

I believe this is what Obama's message is - it is not flattering to Reagan at all.

10. Actually ...

I'd say, he slapped off the Left field wall into the hands of the Left fielder, who standing in Left-center (hopeful), will pick it up and run with it.

15. It was a great SPEECH

I will be blunt:

President Obama has my respect and admiration. He has twice had my vote. But I have no trust for the man.

He will need to work bloody hard to earn that again. I really REALLY want him to succeed in this.

But my memory is pretty good. I have not forgotten the betrayal that is Obamacare. I have not forgotten the Deepwater Horizon. I have not forgotten the Patriot Act and indefinite detainment without a trial. I have not forgotten the troops in Afghanistan. I have not forgotten the innocent people we are murdering with our drones. I have not forgotten President Obama's offer to destroy Social Security, or making the tax cuts for the wealthy permanent. I still remember banks that are too big to presecute. I still remember the people who are desperate and destitute.

President Obama and many of the posters here might have forgotten, but I remember.

In any case this is a day for us to celebrate OUR victory. A lot of us worked hard to see our President reelected. He gave a great speech. We'll see if that's all it was.

17. Hot damn that man can give a speech

I know he's faced a lot of opposition and had to play the cards he's been dealt carefully. I hope this means he has decided he is now on firmer ground to pursue these progressive ideals. Given his past judgement in such matters he would probably be more right than most of us if he has decided this is finally the moment to stack the opposition.

18. Even better than the JFK Ask not speech

It felt intensely personal, like he was speaking personally to many of us. Deeply personal issues, pain, worry were called out and put up there on Obama's list to be addressed.

It was as if he was saying I heard you, now let's get busy! United, strong and together to address and solve each and every one.

Collectively, together, we can do this!

I notice none of the editorials on the speech can settle on one great line. They repeat the key phrases, the key issues - a mosaic he wove beautifully.

29. I thought it to be a very good one...

In hearing, "we've always understood that when times change, so must we"... I find I am so impatient as to how long I can wait for alternative forms of energy.

We need a jobs push with alternative energy for a crumbling infrastructure. How much time do we really have?

I'm a little anxious, but hearing what was expressed, I hope he is right... TIMING, though, is everything...
