Joe Biden: "As 1 Hunter Told Me-If You Got 12 Rounds, It Means You Already Missed The Deer 11 Times"

VP:
"As one hunter told me, if you got 12 rounds, it means you already missed the deer 11 times," he said to laughs. "You should pack the sucker in. You don't deserve a gun, period, if you're that bad."

2. I wonder how many rounds Cheney had when he shot his hunting buddy?

3. He aimed, missed Harry's face, aimed again, missed Harry's face again...

Harry finally asked, "Dick, are you trying to shoot me in the face?"

Dick made a gutteral, Burgess-Meredith-as-Penguin sound, aimed once more and hit Harry square in the pie hole.

Another gutteral, Burgess-Meredith-as-Penguin sound followed as he pumped his fist into the air.

4. Not a problem - mandate 5 round magazines for hunting like some states do. nt

5. I told someone

who was extolling the virtues of an extended magazine that the only thing using extended magazines told me is that the user is a piss poor shot.

6. IMO semi-automatics encourage quicker shots which are less accurate. nm

9. Why worry about getting a good first shot knowing you will have more shots.

If you have a single shot or even bolt action, you know you must be deliberate.

10. Because a good second shot in hunting is very rare

so it is still very important to get a good first shot.

12. I agree. I see no need for a semi-automatic rifle. nm

14. Since most gun owners don't hunt, it is kind of irrelevant to the discussion anyway

the strongest argument for a semi-automatic rifle is their versatility. Hunting, target shooting, self defense - it does everything well.

The attraction to me is how comfortable and easy they are to shoot.

13. Not when you really want to hit your target

I started using semiautomatic rifles because I am right-handed but left-eye dominant. There aren't a lot of choices available in left-handed bolt action rifles.

8. Man, you've gotta love Joe Biden

That remark is so true. Some years ago I heard a similar sort of saying-"One shot heard in the distance means a hunter bagged his deer for the season. Two shots in the distance means a hunter may have bagged his deer for the season. Three shots in the distance means he missed."
I love it -"12 rounds means you already missed the deer 11 times". Classic! In the days I used to hunt deer in Vermont and Maine, not once did I see any hunter using an assault rifle. Among the hunters I used to hunt with they looked down on using those types of guns. You were more likely to get laughed at than anything. On a more serious note, the single shot priority was what was emphasized. Taking your game with a single, well-place shot that made for a quick kill was your priority as a hunter.

11. The Second Amendment isn't about deer hunting
