Introducing Discussionist: A new forum by the creators of DU

Kucinich has enough credibility to do whatever he wants.

Maybe MSNBC should fire dead intern Joe and give Dennis the show, but if he wants to go to Fox that's his call and I don't mind. I trust his judgement.
I won't be watching though.

4. One thing for sure, the right and the pragmatic moderate centrists all loathe him

He'll probably uptick the economy just from TV sets being replaced after Fox viewers throw shit at him.

Anger is addictive and those sort of shows are designed to keep the viewer angry so they keep coming back, Kookinich will work very well for that.

6. He wasn't weak enough to become pro-war just because there is a democratic president.

Which is more than can be said for a lot of other people on the left.

8. When he gets on Fox they will not let him make his points. They always pick weak dems

to come on their shows to debate. When they do get one who is willing to spare they interrupt him or turn their mics off. Those are facts. I have no problems on his voting record. I like him as a politicans. I think as a pundit, not so much.

5. I Can Think Of A Million Reasons He Should Do It...

If Rupert's gonna through that kinda coin at me to play pundit, I'd be a fool to pass it up. Dennis is not a wealthy man and there are few places that would hire for that kind of money so why not take it? Will he be a left wing foil to right wing mems? Probably. But then we see Mikie Steele and Steve Schmidt in similar roles on MSNBC. Occasionally they offer some unique insight on an issue and maybe Dennis will bring that to the parallel universe. I wish him well...

10. They will use him to bitch about everything the dems do,

with a "from a former democratic presidential candidate, himself" meme. They will use Kucinich to slam the dems and he will not be allowed to defend anything.

It's a Ron Paul move on his part. Stupid and without concern for the damage he will cause.

It's too bad because I always appreciated his ability to stand up for what he thought was right. On the surface you might think that he will go to faux and get some liberal views recognized. But they will only use him to fight everything the dems try to do.

I can't see this as anything good and no I don't think he has a right to use his success in politics to trash the shit out of us and give the repugnants ammo to use against sanity.

11. Where Else Would He Go??

Maybe teach? Or do a local talk show (that earns maybe 100k a year)? Other than lobbyist, he isn't going to find that kind of money at some non-profit. There also aren't many places where his voice can or will be heard. He'll actually be heard by more people watching faux (along with those who will see videos second-hand via YouTube) than he did giving speeches that virtually no one paid attention to on the floors of the House.

I can't see anything bad happening here...when you're at the bottom there isn't much lower to go. Maybe he brings a little sanity to that zoo and creates some interesting and embarrassing moments.

12. going to Faux is like

well going to Faux. It's for Karl Rove. It's for Palin. It's not for Dems.

I'm sure he could have found something else.

He is now going to be their democrat who agrees with them. He won't be allowed to give them shit. They will just use his words against this admin on him, and us.

Wrong move. Wrong.

9. MSNBC didn't make an offer, I don't believe. I don't think he cares about anything but the purse.

I don't trust his judgment, and I think he's a has-been. But it's not important to me, anyway, because I do not watch that network.

15. I don't really have problem with it.

Michael Steele had to make a living too so he went to MSNBC. Better then being a lobbyist.
Dennis is occasionally even more to the left then I am but he has always been a decent guy. He is being used as the token nut liberal but I tbink he knows that already.

maybe in your eyes this is true but judging from comments here and at kos and other dem sites, most people don't think he has that credibility.

23. After the...

... crap they've said about him over the years, the way they failed to support him time after time, and the way they shut him out of debates, they've got a lot of fucking nerve thinking he owes them any respect. I don't like that he'll be on that joke of a network, but I understand it and don't begrudge him getting a payday.

That's what happens when you screw people over enough times, they finally say "enough, time to take care of me."

He is a free man. He can do as he pleases. I will miss hearing him but hopefully something good comes of this both for the planet and for him.

29. I'm right with you on that.

I'll miss hearing his thoughts also. I suspect he just had his fill of being crapped on by faux Democrats and doesn't particularly see a future in a party that keeps moving further ad further away from it's core values. Can't say that I blame him, because although I haven't changed where I fall in the political spectrum, the Democratic Party has moved FAR to the right of what used to be the Republican Party, and now labels me a "Leftist Radical." The Repubs have gone deep end into Crazyville.

22. DK is credible as DK

He is predictable and speaks largely for himself. I have no problem with him appearing on Fox. It is not like DK has a range of notes to play. DK is DK and will be DK regardless of who owns the cameras.

25. I caught a little of DK on Bill O'Reilly's show

Early this morning, when the re-run of Rachel's show cut to a commercial, I switched to the re-run of O'Reilly's show. Bill and Dennis, in split-screen. Every time Dennis started talking, Bill just started talking right over him. I couldn't tell if Dennis was making sense or not, just couldn't make out what he was saying because of the non-stop interruption by Bill.

So I changed the channel back to MSNBC and watched commercials until Rachel came back on.

That was my breakfast entertainment.

28. no he doesn't

. . . he's crossed a line in accepting Murdoch's money. He's got to feel like Jimmy Stewart did in 'Wonderful Life' when he shook old man Potter's hand after being offered a job. I hope he'll reconsider.

30. The people so freely making predictions about Kucinich getting rolled might consider his record.

Agree with him or disagree, there's no basis for depicting Kucinich as a shy, retiring milquetoast who always folds in the face of determined opposition.

Also, I think it's hypocritical of anyone to criticize Faux for being all right-wing all the time, and then criticize a leftist who gets hired to appear on the network.
