This is what is wrong with Dennis working for Fox.

OK, disclaimer, I understand that to many here, Dennis is a hero. However, there are reasons why this move cannot be approved of, even with a ton of sauce poured over it:

Let's say Dennis really thinks he is going to go on Fox news, and sneak in the true "liberal" point of view. No BS, he really thinks he can somehow move Fox a little to the left, and therefore inspire others to do the same with other news. OK...if he thinks that, his judgement is seriously twisted. There is NO combat or struggle over what Fox broadcasts, it has decided, and if someone steps out of line, it is edited.

As I said in an earlier thread, it is like some famous Boxer joining the WWE, who has no idea that the whole thing is a performance, as opposed to an athletic contest. The difference is, Dennis does know better, so there are only two choice left...he thinks he can impose his will on Fox, or he knows he cannot, and wants the paycheck.

He also cannot be naive about the fact that they will take anything he says about Obama, and yes, about Hillary, and put THAT STUFF IN ALLCAPS. Fox has looked at how Arianna Huffington and Jane Hamsher whipped a part of the left against Obama, and how tricking people into staying home paid of in 2010. If you think their decision to hire Dennis has nothing to do with 2014, I have a bridge to sell you. Indeed, mark my words, but when Dennis gives an Obama sucks rant, Fox will very likely invite either Hamsher or Huffington in on the chorus, after all they give time to Ron Paul and Grover Norquist on their sites.

Some here have said that Dennis needs the money. Now, that is a line of BULL I will give no quarter to, and here is why? As much as I may dislike Hamsher and Huffington, do you think those two would not offer to pay him? Are people going to say that the only place this guy can get a paycheck is Fox News? Is there no college that needs a professor? Is there no network that requires a talk show host, no room on so called "progressive radio?"

So,there is what I think, and here is a PS: As someone who gets called an "obama-bot" I am very amused at seeing the mental gymnastics of some of Dennis K's fans. We all know that if any other Democratic senator offered to work for Fox, the rotten tomatoes and hand grenades would be thrown without a hint of mercy! Yet some people are not content with merely saying there is nothing wrong, but they act like, all of a sudden, they should watch Fox. With all due respect, this goes beyond mental gymnastics to outright biting oneself on the ass! I would say do not watch Fox, because if Dennis really says anything good on Fox, TYT, Rachel Maddow and even Huffpo will have all the footage and much better analysis of it.

1. LOL

Let's say Dennis really thinks he is going to go to congress, and sneak in the true "liberal" point of view. No BS, he really thinks he can somehow move America a little to the left, and therefore inspire others to do the same in politics. OK...if he thinks that, his judgement is seriously twisted. There is NO combat or struggle over what America does, it has decided, and if someone steps out of line, it is ridiculed or ignored.

Let's be honest. He's been an inadvertent tool of the machine for decades, by fooling dissidents into a false notion that their idea matter and can make a difference (thereby pacifying them).

2. I love Kucinich, but in the past, I've cringed when he speaks...there is no spark or something is

missing. Keep waiting for him to make a point.

Maybe it's the "cutthroat" ... the rumble ... the mano a mano ... something that being successful and influential in national media, no matter which side, requires to survive. Dennis comes off as a nice guy.

I fear that he has been thusly chosen and is likely to make the liberals look, well, listless and whiny. Fox Five will chew him up and spit him out...again, just from what I've seen. I hope I'm wrong. But then, I admit I miss the master of snark ... Olbermann.

I would bet he cannot even handle his mortgage on that, all other things considered.

managed to give TYT, Jennifer Granholm, and others more exposure, making a place FOR THE LEFT, which is more than Dennis is doing playing the jobber wrestler to Fox's HulkHogan.

He's not going to enlighten Fux Noise viewers. More likely he's going to be chumped by the "Fair and Balanced" network and made to lok like a fool.

6. It's only proof the critique of PO coming from what calls itself "the Left" isn't about TRUTH, it's

about destroying PO and nothing more, because, no matter what it says, what calls itself "the Left" CANNOT ((because it doesn't know enough, nor is what it does know necessarily the most significant and salient information that would be necessary to)) predict their own outcomes trajectory with anything even remotely near a reliable probability.

Dennis Kucinich is proof positive that it's all about careers, not results appropriate to the people's needs.

15. It's so sad, because we need an authentic Left, to me, that must come from NEW people engaged in

reality guided by Liberal principles, not just making a career out of pipedreams and then blaming everyone but themselves for not being concretely productive on the issues.

If Dennis Kucinich were the real deal, he'd go out himself and do the bottom-of-the-ladder grunt work of building an authentic movement himself. Apparently he's too much of an aristocrat to do that, so he's become Roger Ailes' lap dog, to piss on PO on command.

Disgusting!

11. No Different Than MSNBC Hiring Mikie Steele...

Firstly...yes, I agree with others that the money looks too good. If Murdoch offers you $1 million for just blowing hot air, I'd take his money and laugh to the bank. I see his role there similar to how Mikie Steele or Steve Schmidt does on MSNBC...kinda the "voice from the other side"...to try to fit into the theme de jour (probably defeniding Obama).

I won't be watching Dennis as I have Faux blocked on my teevee but I hope he gets on there and creates lots of angst and funny moments that people surely will post here...

ready to get paid by fox to use his special brand of outraged piss directed at Pres Obama. Does fox think he'll help their sagging ratings since their big dip after they lied about the Election.. and, every other damn thing on the Planet?

I really didn't expect much out of Dennis after he lost to Marcy Kaptur and accused her of cheating .. kinda fitting actually.

P.S. .. It's not okay to support President Obama but it is okay to support Dennis Kucinich..no matter what. Even if he goes to fox news. Because, well.. he needs the money?!

18. So ... wait. Liberals on Fox are a BAD thing? What side are we on, again?

Fox isn't so monolithic that liberal / Democratic thought never sees the light of day as this OP seems to suggest.

Here's another liberal defector to Fox, defending President Obama from the NRA's "paranoid delusion." Is this the kind of "wrong" we're talking about?

Quick draw Republicans in Congress, intent on stopping any gun-control proposal from the Obama White House, are way off target when they accuse the president of violating gun ownership rights under the Constitution.
Gun control is completely consistent with the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms. And President Obama is on target with the great American tradition of proposing gun control laws for Congressional approval as well as by issuing executive orders on gun control.

...

To be crystal clear: President Obama has the legal authority to enact gun safety measures through executive order. That is not a matter of opinion. It is a statement of fact. And there is historical precedent. Presidents have historically used this tool to implement a wide range of public policies that they believe to be in the best interest of the nation. The Emancipation Proclamation, for instance, was President Abraham Lincolnís exercise of his executive order power to free slaves.

Nothing in President Obamaís rhetoric or his record supports the right wingís claim that he wants to confiscate the guns of law abiding Americans. This is a paranoid delusion manufactured out of whole cloth by the National Rifle Association and the even more extreme group, Gun Owners of America. Unfortunately, this toxic nonsense has now seeped into the mainstream of conservative thought.

http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2013/01/16/what-everybody-needs-to-know-about-our-constitution-and-gun-control/

So, for starters, Fox is hiring more liberal commentators AND letting them speak sense. Probably not because they've turned in their Evil badge, but maybe crazy just isn't selling as well.

Wouldn't that be a ... good thing?

As for "Obamabots" (I use your term) vs. Kucinich, this whole discussion seems like another case of going way out of the way to find a plot to unfairly criticize the President. It's a pretty convoluted knot to tie concluding that Fox hiring a Democrat as an analyst is bad. Would it be better if they hired another RW loon instead?

One might, at least, wait to hear what Dennis actually has to say first.

But I do think he has let his ego write checks he cannot pay, and the sad fact is, Fox knows that all they have to do is make sure that when he leaves, he leaves with a stink on him. Remember, facts do not matter to the Fox audience, so it will be easy to plant weed/have an intern say evil/insert dirty trick here.

The whole thing is just so wrong. FOX is giving him cover and he is giving FOX cover -- I can't even tell who the beard is in this scenario. The Kooch beloved of so many DUers is going to use this toxic platform to blast Democrats that could actually win an election because in his mind they are not enough something-or-other enough. And FOX will use that for their own purposes.

23. That is the point

It gets to the point where DK's sincerity does not even matter, even if he thinks he will change Fox, we know he will not, and we are looking at a scenario where the left is both demoralized and disorganized. It does not help that Current is going to Al-Jazeera, granted, I do respect AJZ, as they will have the muscle to present a point of view the right cannot buy out, but the truth is, the American Left is going to look for new homes, and it will not help from Fox to be able to brag about making DK just another employee.

liberal and progressive and who routinely support the oligarchy.

So basically you and others are worrded Dennis is going to go on the TV and state the truth about many Democrats on Fox and Fox will use it as a club against the non liberal and progressive Dems, ok got now.

26. Actually NO

Because Dennis will do a great job of making the progressives look bad. He is there to be a PUNCHING BAG, what is Wrestling is known as "the jobber" they guy who gets paid to lose and make Hulk Hogan look like a talented athlete. Do you think FOX does not have this planned? Do you think they do not have the editing room ready?

And yes, I do worry about the Dems that you hate, because frankly, 2000 and 2010 showed the truth, that if we were to wait for Dennis to win the presidency, we will wait for something that does not come, and will not come. Progressives win by exerting pressure on people IN OFFICE, not by waiting for moments that will not comes, not the least of which is that, unlike an Al Franken or Liz Warren, Dennis never chose to run for a Senate seat or Governorship, so his options are limited, but by HIS OWN HAND, ask one of his former opponents, a fellow named Sherrod Brown that took on the dread Ohio GOP machine, and WON.

But I suppose Warren, Brown, and Franken are GOP too, because they all did a lot more than just preach to friendly choirs in Cleveland.

This is only going to work if Foxnews uses kucinich's presence as an excuse for them to ratchet down the ridiculous bias and rumor mongering as well as Republican propaganda.

Even with that, I'd have to hear proof of it before I went over and watched.

Fox ratcheting down the bias is to deny it's whole reason for existence; you might as well ask a fish to breathe air. Even if DK allowed them to shift (which frankly, is NOT likely) it would only enable Fox to seem nicer, like they learned their lesson, which is EXACTLY the perfect moment to stab us in the back, like oh,another compassionate conservative who is not all that bad, really (sarcasm)>
