Far-Right Website: Because Reagan had Alzheimer's, His '94 Letter On Guns Is Questionable
This is not from The Onion, my friends.
TheBlaze.com did an article discussing President Reagan's position on the Assault Weapons Ban in 1994, and in their explanation of the former President's support for the law, in the form of a letter signed by Presidents Ford and Carter, it suggests that more research needed to be concluded as to whether the President Reagan actually supported the idea outlined in the letter. However, a form letter from a former president on a current issue of the day need not necessarily have that president’s personal fingerprints on it, and especially given that Reagan was diagnosed with Alzheimer's later the same year this letter was sent, we needed more evidence to suggest that Reagan himself personally supported the idea They later conclude, after going back to news coverage of the subject in 1994, that Reagan not only supported the idea of an assault weapons ban, but campaigned for it, evident in his letters to Congressmen who were skeptical as to whether or not to support it. http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2013/01/16/ronald-reagan-supported-an-assault-weapons-ban-says-obama-the-potentially-surprising-details/

Maybe his judgment was clouded by being shot too. If he had not survived I'm sure he would have done it differently.

3. One million people died from AIDS while Ronnie Reagan slept and did nothing

the rightwing extremists didn't care about that one bit because most of them were people who never voted for the rightwing.
but the second it is brought out that Ronnie might (might) have been on the side of one issue that was not to their liking, they sell him down the river. |
