foil getup must be his suit for EVA (extra vehicular activity, as the astronauts call it)

I think I read somewhere that its better to have a regular baseball cap with copper shielding foil on the inside. Much less conspicuous that way.

They have trailers there, too. Shocking to learn, I'm sure.

Many DUers live in trailers, too. And we aren't wearing tinfoil depends or drool bibs.

Take your bigotry for lower income people and put it you know where...your post makes me sick and illustrates one of the prejudices that make DU suck for low income DUers.

You can't even bring yourself to apologize.

Now go on and make jokes about homeless people and their rags. Or people who live in the projects.

It's really fun to ridicule low income people, isn't it?

Most people assume that mobile home dwellers are knuckle-dragging, beer-swilling ignorant rednecks. I am retired and living on social security, and living in a mobile home is just perfect for my limited finances. I own my mobile home with no mortgage, just a monthly lot rent and my car is free and clear. Plus, I do have a savings account for emergencies. I wonder how many other people can say that.

No mortgage. And I've already seen my property value go up $20,000 in the last few years. More people moving out to the sticks, I guess.

There are too many DUers who love to trash anyone who doesn't live in a cookie cutter subdivision. They disgust me. Most probably don't even know their neighbors. Last week, my neighbors brought a crew and equipment over and did thousands of dollars worth of work for me without my asking for help, simply because they knew I needed it.

As the dear woman said ( who set up the whole thing ) "If you're too busy to help your neighbors, you're too busy!"

If all hell breaks loose, I know I can trust my neighbors and that we will all help each other. We already do that.

Class bigotry makes me sick when I see it here.

one years ago, all lined with wood, etc. I really get fed up too with some people being so lame about mobile homes. Sure, there are some bad places, but there are a hell of a lot of good places too!!! What you've done IMO is great!!! And as you say, "I wonder how many other people can say that."

where I live you can live in a shed if you need to.

And we have no homeless problem here. Amazing.

There are nice trailers and crap holes like mine. But we all have roofs over our heads, and we are thankful for that.

I've owned a seven bedroom custom home, sold it for a lot of $$$$$ and moved here. I can honestly say I'm happier and far more free here than I was then.

And if I do build a home someday, I will still love and admire those of my neighbors who remain in their trailers.

sold land here in TX for over $100,000 and wanted to move "back home" to N. Carolina. Just so happens that my uncle (mom's brother) had a mobile home site ready to go on his paid-for land. Mom and pop leased that site from my uncle for $1 for the remainder of their lives. They purchased the mobile home outright with a check for $65,000 in 2009. They banked $35,000, adding to their savings. They are both retired. They have the usual utility bills and that is it. Cars are paid for.

I missed the post that was deleted by okaawhatever but from the tone of the replies I would assume okaawhatever is under the impression that trailer-dwellers are less-than-worthy of respect. I challenge that assertion because my parents are among those "other people who can say that".

I don't understand your question - unless you post under two accounts, don't think I said anything to you.

The original poster ( if not you ) said "For those who don't live in the South" which was a stupid comment meant to ridicule both the South and trailer dwellers. Usually I ignore the comments like this. Not worth trying to dissuade most bigots from their bigotry, really, whether that's against an entire region or an entire class of humans.

I just hope that most DUers have the common sense to know that this board has many members from all walks of life, and that ridiculing those who don't live "exactly like you" shrieks "I am a selfish, arrogant fuck." Lots of "trailer dwellers" voted for Obama, too. If trying to humilate them here is your "sport" you are an ass, IMHO.

As for you, I have no idea who you are....
