Only 6% of scientists identify themselves as Republicans. 100% of Republicans have no idea why

One of the great political shifts in the past decade has been the move of scientists toward the Democratic Party, a casualty of the Republican Party’s war on reality. It’s not about politics for scientists, it’s about the fact that only one party accepts scientific findings on everything from global warming to evolutionary theory to what does and doesn’t prevent pregnancy. Only 6 percent of scientists identify as Republican, whereas 55 percent identify as Democratic. In October of 2012, 68 Nobel-winning scientists co-signed a strong endorsement of Obama, saying the President “has delivered on his promise to renew our faith in science-based decision making.”

2. 6% seems kind of high to me...

I hope that is 6% that is Republican because of tradition and they just aren't paying attention to the current crop of Republicans.

15. How many of that 6% are fossil fuel geologists ?

I'm willing to bet there's a correlation there.

16. Funny you should bring that up...

When I heard about them I was horrified. It is probably going overboard to think of them as being traitors to the human race.

3. And many republicans can't even spell scientists. That aside, my

theory is the scientific intelligentsia of the world will leave many humans back in centuries past as we progress. Just how long can we carry along bags of rocks and turkeys. This will sound arrogant, and it's not meant to be, but when I left my career I was amazed at just how ignorant and proud many seem to be.

10. Your hypothesis... not theory

Just being a stickler since it's a thread about scientists, and I'm trying to take back the word theory for science so we can stop creationists from claiming they have a theory.
