Fox News: We are raising a generation of deluded narcissists

(They are at least doing their best to try )

This is so hilariously funny coming from Fox....

On MTV and other networks, young people can see lives just like theirs portrayed on reality TV shows fueled by such incredible self-involvement and self-love that any of the “real-life” characters should really be in psychotherapy to have any chance at anything like a normal life.

That’s really the unavoidable end, by the way. False pride can never be sustained. The bubble of narcissism is always at risk of bursting. That’s why young people are higher on drugs than ever, drunker than ever, smoking more, tattooed more, pierced more and having more and more and more sex, earlier and earlier and earlier, raising babies before they can do it well, because it makes them feel special, for a while. They’re doing anything to distract themselves from the fact that they feel empty inside and unworthy.

Distractions, however, are temporary, and the truth is eternal. Watch for an epidemic of depression and suicidality, not to mention homicidality, as the real self-loathing and hatred of others that lies beneath all this narcissism rises to the surface.

But when adults point the finger at the younger generation I have to ask, were young people creating their own television programming?

Are young people responsible for the world that adults have created, that they were brought into?

Who are the deluded narcissists now?

5. More irony...

I have been writing a great deal over the past few years about the toxic psychological impact of media and technology on children, adolescents and young adults, particularly as it regards turning them into faux celebrities
-snip-
They can delete unflattering comments. They can block anyone who disagrees with them or pokes holes in their inflated self-esteem.

...in an article that has no comment section from a Faux celebrity.

4. So do they have any facts to back all their wild claims?

Really more drug use, more sex, more teen pregnancies...I have seen the opposite. Most young people are responsible, just like always. It is the few that somehow are pointed to as a representative sample of all young people.

27. teenage pregnancies are down, young people are smarter than they hope, they aren't buying their BS

No matter what they tried to do with our media to dumb us down, humanity will overcome.

They cannot turn back the tide of human progress.

And so they are very angry and blaming anyone they can find.

6. Characters like Bill O reilly and Hannitty and Beckster?

Like Rush Limpballs?

They would be the "examples" of deluded narcissists.

If I were a young person today, I'd be disgusted with my greedy boomer generation. I'd be trusting my own instincts over a society and a Congress that allows people to go homeless when there are like 4-5 empty homes for every homeless person.

I'd be disgusted with FOX spreading lies with impunity, and then having the audacity to call it "news."

I'd be disgusted with legislatures that don't demand Big Pharma pay for treatment programs for those addicted to their pills. I'd be disgusted with legislators who decide instead to make felons out of addicts with a few pills on their persons. I'd be disgusted with legislators who make $$$$$$$ every time a poor soul enters their for-profit prisons.

I'd be disgusted with all the people in prison for enjoying cannabis.

I'd be sick to death of low wages, no access to health care and no way to pay off student loans, much less find decent jobs.

I'd be disgusted with CEOs making millions while hard-working Americans live in poverty.

I'd be disgusted with a Congress that introduces 1000 bills trying to legislate vaginas, but that cannot create even one jobs bill.

If our kids are narcissists, we fucking made them so, by our awful examples.

I hope someday the next generations will kick FOX to the curb, kick our politicians in the teeth and out on their sorry, lazy, greedy asses, and make this "richest nation on the earth" act like it has some damned common sense.

With all the lies they tell. That asshole who shot up Newtown, was probably raised on Faux. His mother was a gun toter survivalist. All these 20 something guys, were about 10 years old when Faux and Bush started their terms.

32. "generation of fascist youth- well, actually, that is the reality of it, and it is scary

It only takes a few of them to control all of us.

Someone here posted about an interaction with a brainwashed 14 year old yesterday....yikes!

They did a good job of making him think though, and that is what we all need to do with young people today. The clueless kids are not to blame, we cannot leave them to the teachings of nut job parents who watch Fox News.

We should also work to get Fox kicked off of our public airwaves. Now that they have announced their intentions, it should be easier to accomplish

20. Yes, just look at the upper middle class families of the different series "Housewives of whatever

city". Or how about those pure ladies of the "Big Rich out of TX". Boy they really show the pure sides of mother and daughters in action. They are all botoxed up and I swear the daughters look like they have had a few affairs already. So this is the crap that is on tv. I don't think that Honey Boo Boo is any worse then these families of the rich who also should know better. At least mother June has all their money going to a trust fund for all her daughters. I wonder can the others care for their daughters as much. June and her family are who they are and they don't try to be anythingelse. She helps her community and doesn't want to move into a better home. However to be honest I wish all these reality shows would be off the air. Give us some quality shows. We pay for our cable tv.

21. Fox News is setting the perfect example on how to raise deluded narcissists

Anyone who watches Fox News is just following their lead.

If we don't want to raise a bunch of "deluded narcissists", we shouldn't let our kids watch Fox News. They wrote the book on how to be a narcissistic douchenozzle.
