Chris Rock does it again.

Found this in today's USAToday.

Remember "bullet control?" Mr. Rock has now come up with another proposal to help prevent gun violence:

"You should have to have a mortgage to buy a gun. No one who has a mortgage has ever gone on a killing spree . . . because a mortgage is a real background check. And you know if you go to jail for 30 years, you still have to pay the (expletive) mortgage."

As long as you own the freaking house, as long as you hold the mortgage, no matter how many people died as a result of your house or mortgage, you still owe the mortgage and, of course, all the taxes, pluse interest and penalties if you don't just pay up!!!

Sell the damn thing, pay the capital gains taxes, get the heck out of ownership, register the new owner, after you did the credit and background check. Pay it off, move away from that gun!!!

what other "hoops" are necessary?

Banks care about your ability to pay back the loan - they focus on employment and debt.
Not being on the list of people banned by law from owning a gun is all that matters when it comes to guns.

MOST require extensive background checks including credit and work history. part of the mortgage problem was that the lenders were collecting the info but not using it to make their credit decisions.
