Some folks are real mean - $60 dollars for finding $13,000 -

The iPad rested on a bench at a tiki bar in Terminal 1. It was packed with $13,000 in cash and destined for a rendezvous with a humble, yet honest, cleaning man.

Patrick Morgan, who runs a cleaning service at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, noticed the iPad as he was making his rounds at 1 a.m. on Dec. 19.

"I opened it and there was an envelope with some money," Morgan said Wednesday. He didn't count it, but instead immediately called security. An airport employee met him and examined the find.

"Yes, I found it," the cleaner replied. "Don't worry, it's okay."

The unidentified man, who officials later said had returned from Las Vegas, handed Morgan $60 for his honesty.

But Wednesday, Morgan's boss increased that bounty tenfold, handing him a check for $625. "He's everything you'd seek in a good business partner, a good friend," said Mark Klein, with Sunshine Cleaning Systems, which sub-contracts work to Morgan's company, Patricks Cleaning Service of Plantation.

3. It only applies internationally

Though having that much in cash will definitely raise some eyebrows.

5. He probably won it in Vegas

It's all over the local news because the finder is Jamaican.

12. Police shake-down ...

people of color with excess cash all the time; even when they have a good reason for having the excess cash.

21. agreed

I've done it quite a few times. I buy, fix and resell cars on the side, all with cash for extra money. Don't think much of carrying around 10k in cash.

4. What kind of idiot is so careless with 13k in cash?

If I was carrying that much around (which isn't ever going to happen), It'd be in a pouch around my neck at all times. Still - it's nice to see such honesty.

9. An astonishing number of people, at least in the last week or so.

I work the information desk at a hospital, and since last Friday have fielded reports of at least three different lost IPads.

I don't get that many reports of lost keys or cell phones.

16. I left mine at the Sky Hop desk at SJO

It's easy to forget things when you're juggling extra stuff. It was still there when I went back down to get it a few minutes later (it was my iPad 1, not a newer one) and it was definitely not stuffed with money.

7. Maybe its a scene from the future.....

...the I-pad is found with $13,000 being used as packing peanuts. Slips the I-pad in his coat pocket and tosses the rest.

20. I thought that also, he had nothing to do with any of it but made sure his employee got compensated

Those are two very good men - nice to see. As to the money's owner - can't thing of a good thing to say.

22. The boss and the security guard. And especially the cleaning man. Some people are just honest

even when they can get away with not being honest. A story like this reaffirms my faith in the best in people.

10. I'm sure the honest man who turned it in did not do so

for a reward. Honesty is its own reward.

13. True ...

the article did indicate that the finder didn't count the money; so it is very likely he was not seeking a reward.
