People that stiff on tips are assholes.

They are also usually the types that send a soda back because it doesn't have the proper ratio of ice in it. And run a server ragged when they already know they aren't going to tip.

To top it off by leaving some smartass political or religious statement compounds the wretchedness of the behavior.

The cheapass fucks probably used a coupon and split an entrees and sat on their asses in the booth getting coffee refills for an hour after their table was clear.

It' s not like they are making money for the restaurant anyway.

Tell them to fuck off and don't come back.

We had this couple with a kid who would come in once in awhile, would sit by the fireplace and read their current book, as the little kid ran around the place unattended, and would only order a mineral water... and would NEVER tip.

AND... if you made the mistake of discarding the metal cap on the bottle of mineral water, so that they could not re-seal it and take it home with them... they would complain to the owners.

Anyway regardless of the situation, leaving a note like that is the mark of an asshole.

As I noted above if I owned a restaurant I would tell such a person they were NOT welcome back.

I miscalculated and did not have enough money for a tip. I find out when that server is working and return, tipping them the full price of the meal for their trouble.

I parked myself at a table for 20 minutes before I found out. I kept that server from having a real customer in the time I was there.

Servers work for peanuts -- in some states, far below minimum wage. This jerk who claims to be in the highest income bracket ("my fair share in taxes" points to that, since he references Obama) and can afford a meal out, just hurt another human being at the lowest end of the income scale in order to make a petty political point.

I've paid my "fair share" and more now for more than 30 years....surprisingly was "let go" this week...only thing boss could come up with was "impending costs of obamacare"....seems my warm body tipped the number over the acceptable level to force my boss to continue my healthcare. i'm thinking i'll be out of a job for at least a year, so I wont get the opportunity to tip anyone, I wont be spreading what little wealth I have at any establishments for a very long time. Immediate goal is to keep my home.

just include the gratuity in the price of the food, if people want to try and pull that crap, they'll be thwarted before they order.
