Lance Armstrong interview with Oprah Winfrey to be streamed live
http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2013/jan/09/lance-armstrong-interview-oprah-winfrey
<snip> The Lance Armstrong interview in which the disgraced former cyclist will deal with the doping revelations that led to a lifetime ban from sport and the stripping of his seven Tour de France titles will be streamed live around the world as well as broadcast on television in the United States. The 90-minute special will air next Thursday at 9pm eastern time in the US, or 2am in the UK, and will be streamed on Oprah.com at the same time. It is the first time Armstrong has given an interview since he lost his titles, was dropped by sponsors and pilloried by the public for his part in what the US Anti-Doping Agency called the "most sophisticated doping programme that sport has ever seen". According to reports, he also came under pressure from the board of Livestrong – the charity he founded to support cancer sufferers and from which he stood down as chairman in October – to speak publicly. The Oprah Winfrey Network, which will show the programme, is a joint venture between Winfrey's Harpo Productions and Discovery Channel. Discovery Channel was the headline sponsor of Armstrong's team between 2004 and 2007. ----------------- I don't know whether to laugh or cry

2. I doubt that part since
|
I'm sure there are medical records.
It is because of the cancer that I always thought he was using drugs |

3. Am I the only one who has no desire to watch this? Whether he lies or reveals...
|
I can't get past the pathos of this-- which has rapidly gone from Greek Tragedy to something mere pathetic.

5. it is pathetic, but there are enough mouth breathing tv watchers that
|
thrive on pathetic and that's what armstrong and Opra are banking on.

watch for a "humble" armstrong with a dash of self loathing and a healthy dose of "love me" as he begins his public transformation from being a colossal fraud/jerk into an acceptable colossal fraud/jerk. He's radioactive right now and he's now going to do everything he can to be a little less radio active. and in a year or two, he will be using his fraud as the butt of jokes that he himself tells. The cycling community has written him off, but armstrong doesn't care, he will reinvent himself now and move on to something else that he can exploit for self gain at the expense of someone else's false belief in him. as the world turns. |

9. It's the predictable circus.
|
armstrong, I'm sure is getting a heafty fee for this and Opra, well, just more money on top of her already mountanous pile.
The celebrity charade. or more like the cartooning of society. |

10. Wow. The drama continues.
|
I wonder if he can pull this off. He's been lying so forcefully for so many years. He even lied under oath. He's damaged people's careers and lives.
Is he going to be able to just say "sorry" and get people to forget all that? Are his lawyers going to let him come completely clean, in spite of the lawsuits pending against him? |
