Out of these three, what do you see as the biggest problem in the United States today?

1. Does this mean you now agree that white privilege and male privilege exist?

I assume you feel socio-economic is the biggest problem today, and actually I think I'd agree with you, although I think there's some relationship in this country between them.

2. i think it the u.s. that racism, though really alive and well, is still more socially unacceptable

than misogyny and that is the only reason i voted as i did in you limiting poll.

19. A lot of truth to that

It is not socially acceptable to be a racist in the USA, at least not on television and in most social settings. Misogyny, however, is preached openly in churches and by a certain political party and a certain 'news' network.

6. Definitely socio-economic privilege.

There are the haves, have mores the poor and then the rest of us. More and more are slipping into poverty.

edit to add -- Having given this a bit more thought, I would have to say that white privilege chomps at the heels of socio-economic.

society, anyway.

just my opinion. your mileage may vary.

You are more likely to end up being rich if you are the other two. It's all interconnected.

poor, white males are having a harder time getting rich these days.

that doesn't mean that they aren't all things that cause injustice in our society and need to be addressed and changed.

20. Right

I hope the idea behind this isn't, "Socio-economic has the most impact, therefore we don't have to worry about any other kind of privilege." Especially since they are related, especially for people who are dealing with lack of privilege in two or three areas.

23. Yes, that's what concerns me.

It's sort of a tactic of ... certain groups. "Oh, you're worried about animal welfare? Well, what about all the PEOPLE who are dying? Isn't that more important?!?!" Well, you know, we aren't single-minded. We can work on many areas of injustice at once! Image that!

And like you said, these things are all intertwined and influence each other. Women tend to be in lower socio-economic groups DUE TO male privilege, which then adds another unprivileged group to a woman's resume.

26. False choices

This poll is like asking someone which part of their feet is most important for walking - the toes, ball or heel. The problem is that no matter which answer wins, it doesn't mean that a person could walk just as well without the other two parts of their feet.

And the most expensive clothing.

Socioeconomic privilege trumps all other kinds by orders of magnitude.

34. Even though social mobility is limited

It is less limited than race or gender.
That's why to a sizeable number of Americans, Obama is just a black man, no better than a black man high school drop out living in the ghetto whose been in and out of prison, unable to pay for his five children born to five different women.
