You've got to appreciate the sheer fucking nerve of Congressional Republicans…

THEY run up the bills, voting for deficit exploding wars, tax cuts and all kinds of corporate welfare.

THEY refuse to raise the revenue to pay those bills.

THEY threaten the full faith and credit of the United States by threatening to politicize the raising of the Debt Ceiling in order to create leverage against the President.

Then…

THEY have the temerity to blame the President for causing the problem.

THEY are SCUM.

The amount of hypocrisy needed for them to do what they're doing is mind blowing.

It's like being astounded at the force of a hurricane, or a tsunami. One doesn't have to like something like that in order to respect it.

Anyone capable of what they're doing is also capable of doing anything.

It's the devil's dilemma. They are so rooted in and enamored with fucking evil that they cannot see the world any other way, despite having such amazing capabilities. A simple word for them is "fools". But the tragedy is we all end up suffering because of their short-sightedness.

49. I don't see any hypocrisy, but planning. They want the USA to collapse to profit their friends.

Last edited Wed Jan 9, 2013, 12:42 PM - Edit history (2)

They are completely consistent. They send money to their friends they steal from the people in the way of deficits they run up. They never had any intention of paying for the wars.

Their subsidies, tax breaks for the rich, etc. were exactly the same thing. Their overpriced RX program made their friends wealthy. The contracts for going to war made their friends richer than anyone has ever been. Their theft from veterans, homeowners, the poor, the disabled, the elderly - all of that went to their friends.

Democrats are foolish in this way. A party that believes all people are equal and deserve equal treatment, don't disenfranchise voters to continue the theft; don't discriminate to keep wages low; steal the parks, the schools, the jobs, the very roads, don't do half the things that the GOP are doing today as they have for years.

They are thieves and their greed knows no bounds. They have invented a religion, taken from Ayn Rand and a perverted christianity, that says they are better, superior, deserve more. This flies completely in the face of what Democrats and those who are seeking to better their lives depend on, believe in, must have to live.

They don't care if we live. Any party that advocates constant warfare for nefarious reasons, lies all the time without considering the cost, does not respect the living. No matter how many unpaid for unborns they wave to cover their sin, they hate the living.

The sooner Democrats and others get it through their thick heads that the GOP is not having a temporary aberration, not suffering from stupidity or senility, the sooner we will tackle the problem. Our outrage is music to their ears, they consider it the mewling of the weak.

They only understand one thing, and that is being swept out of office. Everything else is just more fun for their media to make even more money off of. Nothing else,

50. Look it...You know their constituents...

....Republicans have been lowering themselves to their constituents level in order to communicate with/lie to them for years. And in the process, at some point in time, (you know how lazy they are, never worked a day in their lives, not even in Congress) they just didn't snap out of their constituents realm. They just stayed there, frozen in time. Anyway, that's one way you can look at Republicans and their maddening mentality. I knew what you meant by "appreciate".

But do your fucking research first

Look at this:

?w=350&h=432

Besides, Congress is the only branch that passes the budget, Congress is the final arbiter of what gets paid for, the President doesn't have a line item to veto to rein in Congressional Spending.

Why has raising the debt ceiling only become an issue while Obama is president? It never has been before.

I have qoted that the Wars and tax cuts were the problem and the cause of the deficts but they counter that the war in Iraq is over 2 years ago and the war in Afghanistan has been scaled back so where are the deficit savings of those wars? The new theme on taxes is that Obama extended them in 2010 and now has the new Obama tax rates in 2013 so can't be blaming any deficits caused by tax rates on Bush anymore so where are the deficits reductions due to these things?

Is there CBO Data that I am missing?

30. I had this discussion at my job...

I work with a large group of teabaggers and I find myself in many discussion about the debt. Their position on the debt was yes Bush was a terrible spender, but Obama is much worse...

I ask them how do they figure because Obama hasn't increased spending all that much and they counter with Obama is using the 2009 baseline of spending which was by all accounts only authorized because of the sheer magnitude of the Recession.

They claim that Obama using that baseline which was a 20 percent increase in spending is like saying we are using that level of emergency spending for every year since the Recession started. Then they point to the 6 Trillion added to the national debt in the last 4 years and the 1+ trillion deficits every year when no President prior ever ran Trillion dollar per year deficits.

I always counter with the wars which weren't paid for and now they hit me with well Obama ended the War in Iraq 2 years ago if it was true that Iraq was the cause of deficits where are the reductions in the deficit due to the end of the war?

They always tell me to go to usdebtclock.org and really see what is going on especially with the unfunded future liabilities portion of the debt...

Now all that said, I try to convince them that there are much better alternatives to decreasing the debt then by cutting the programs...

I really think our side should champion a

VAT
and/or
a transaction tax on bank transactions and wall street trading and transaction.

Those two things alone would pay off the debt....

The bottom line is that the debt is real, how we got here will soon be a moot issue if nothing is done about it, you must certainly agree that the trajectory is unsustainable, right?

55. Yes I understand the taxes should be raised

but structurally the deficits cannot be lowered with tax increases alone unless you advocate much higher taxes on the entire middleclass.

That is where a VAT and a Transaction tax comes in... It keeps new sources of revenue flowing to the government so spending doesn't have to be cut

Your thinking small. All this President has to do is start a new dollar then offer about 50 cents on each old for one new. The wealthy will take it or lose the exchange and then have old dollars worth nothing. The poor will be ecstatic and this President will be worshiped as the one who brought down the imperialist. The only time social policies fail is when you have the wrong people leading. This time we have the right man for the job.

Probably we have too many contractors in Iraq to really save much, if anything yet.

Then the state of the economy creates additional demand for services has to be a strain.

What we need is people with money to support themselves and to spend. Jobs and wages.

80. Or thinking outside the box...

Obama could easily give a complete one year tax holiday to everyone making 50K and below... Complete coverage in the Affordable care act subsidized by government for those making below 25K and subsidized on a progressive scale up to 80K...progressively subsidized loans for green energy vehicles for households making 50K and below... i.e., must buy approved electric or hybrid and the subsidy would be applied by the dealer based on the ability of the family to pay i.e.... Family of four making 30K total income would be subsidized 75 percent of the cost so a 40K hybrid would run them 10K ... etc... All of this to be paid for by increasing taxes by 10 percent on those making 100K and over....

He becomes the tax cutter of the poor and anyone voting against it would be seen as calous and mean, besides it would definately jump start the economy of course it would cost nearly a trillion to do all this but it would easily be recouped by the tax increases and the booming economy would provide more revenue to the government to pay it back...

These are the things worth talking about...These are the things I voted for...

43. As long as we have a so-called media

That would rather entertain us than inform us, and as long as the same so-called media is allowed to frame the issues as both sides being at fault, this will continue.

44. You've got to hand it to Republicans. They're doing what works for them.

As long as their simpleton voters allow their BS, they will not quit this anytime soon. The GOP always wants to compare liberals to Hitler and the Nazis, but they need to take a long hard look in the mirror. Just like Hitler, all our elected Republican friends and RW talking heads only care about is gaining and retaining power while trying to trick the less fortunate into supporting their narrow-minded agenda.
Words can't express how sickening it is what they're doing.

53. the only reason it 'works' is that they stole all the money, bought the media and halls of power

They look like losers to the American people though, what a bunch of ignorant selfish spoiled brats, yikes!

If they had any shame they would have crawled back into the hole they came from.

Why don't they have any shame? What is wrong with them?!!

Can't figure it out, but we need to find a modern day version of tar and feathers to run them out of town...

59. Exactly! Corpomedia endorses their tactics and repeats their flagrant lies as so called "fairness".

Then it throws softball questions and avoids follow-up as if it was unfair to the dubious nature of politics to expect truthful responses.

No commentary on your post, just like the profile.

62. They didn't just refuse to raise revenues

they "fucking" pushed through 2 massive tax-cuts while we were waging two wars and running up massive debt!

That would be like buying a house and then quitting your fucking job.

6 multi-national corporations, all are run by conservatives, including MSNBC. It was no coincidence that Olbermann, Unyger, Radigan all got canned. Watch out Rachel and Lawrence.

73. What is really amazing

is that they can convince their supporters that they are not responsible for all the things they have done to hurt the country.

IMO, If they threaten the faith and credit of the Nation, permanently destroying out borrowing ability and causing the collapse of the economy, they should be brought up on charges of Treason and terrorism, every f***in' one of them.

75. They did it on purpose so they could scream for spending cuts.

This was intentional. Run up the debt until we're forced to cut spending on "entitlements". More than anything on Earth they want to stop helping out their fellow citizens. There might be a person of color getting some help somewhere on their dime. This infuriates them. Help is only for people in their own neighborhoods and churches.

76. They can only do this because their Base believes in them....

Republicanism is a cult. It requires that you tune out the rest of the world and only listen and believe your leaders.

If they say everything was fine before Obama came along than that MUST be the truth.

Talk to some of them, point out this fact and what do they say?

"Oh yeah? Well LIBERALS do the same thing!!!"

We don't, but they are CONVINCED we do so,...I guess that means it's okay to be a mindless follower since the other side does it too....
