GMO food and cancer. Seralini study web site debunks debunkers

"< http://gmoseralini.org > is a new one-stop resource that provides citizens, the media, and scientists with information about the research of Professor Gilles-Eric Séralini and colleagues on genetically modified foods and Roundup.

The new website set up by scientists challenges criticisms of a landmark study that found genetically modified (GM) maize damaged the health of rats. The group concludes there is an urgent need for long-term toxicity and cancer studies on GM foods.

The website examines criticisms leveled at the study and finds that they do not stand up to scientific scrutiny.

1. Smelling a big, stinking corporate disinformation RAT

A new study suggesting a Monsanto GM maize and the company’s Roundup herbicide may pose serious health risks has been widely attacked, not just by scientists and commentators but also by scientific bodies and regulators.

This article looks at the role of industry-linked scientists and lobbyists in a campaign aimed at getting the paper retracted.

6. Attempts to bury the damning GMO research under a storm of insults

A spokesperson for GMOSeralini.org Claire Robinso said in the weeks following the publication of Séralini’s study she was contacted by scientists who were unhappy that science was being distorted to protect the GM industry.

Robinson said: “The consensus was that the public was lied to. The criticisms seemed designed to bury the research under a storm of insults, but they do not stand up to analysis.”
