Anyone else skipping the SOTU speech?

Everyone knows Barack is great at speaking, so I will wait until the transcript is released to read what he said, or at least the highlights. I'm not a fan of all the pageantry and ritual surrounding the state of the union speech by presidents either.

While Obama's delivering the SOTU address, WhiteHouse.gov is not only going to stream it live, it's going to be showing "charts, graphs and other content" alongside Obama's speech.

9. Me. Haven't watched or listened to one in about 40 years. I relax and read it

the next day.

I also won't read or listen to any analysis.

I interpret it myself-----stubborn Irish I guess.

Take a shot every time the camera catches Boner wishing he was having a drink. You'd be under the table before the entrance applause was done.

when I was in the USAF. I'm not about to stop watching now. You can do as you please, but I'll be watching for the history of it.

Also, if there is anything weird that happens, I want to see it live.

Strange, two posts in a row, one says "watching for the history of it" and the next says "anything weird that happens"

You guys are starting to freak me out! What are you folks expecting?

27. Oh just simple things, like when the SC ass hat yelled:

"You lie" - I would not want to read about that, I want to be there for it.
Or when the Supremes last year acted disrespectfully, one never knows just what could happen, we're dealing with people, after all.

Or, if Chris Christie secretly eats a whole grilled chicken during the speech...
I would want to see the grease stains spread.

On the good side, I'd like to be there when our President does himself proud in the middle of so many who hate him and aren't fit to shine his shoes.

21. I will watch it.

I actually love to watch the President come into the chamber and then give a speech. It might not be a big deal to some but to me a SOTU is part of history, good or bad. I like the ritual and inane tidbits of history like:

Calvin Coolidge's 1923 speech was the first to be broadcast on radio. Harry S. Truman's 1947 address was the first to be broadcast on television. Lyndon B. Johnson's address in 1965 was the first delivered in the evening. Three years later, in 1968, television networks in the United States, for the first time, imposed no time limit for their coverage of a State of the Union address. Delivered by Lyndon B. Johnson, this address was followed by extensive televised commentary by, among others, Daniel Patrick Moynihan and Milton Friedman. Ronald Reagan was the only president to have postponed his State of the Union Address. On January 28, 1986, he planned to give his address, but after learning of the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster, he postponed it for a week and addressed the nation on the day's events. This was the only time that the State of the Union address had to be postponed. Bill Clinton's 1997 address was the first broadcast available live on the World Wide Web.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/State_of_the_Union_address

I think it is because history was always my favorite subject in school.

I usually don't make it this far------it pisses me off to no end when after every sentence, we have to wait forever for the next sentence because everyone has to publicly show how much they like what is said.

Act like you are listening to an opera or something.......hold the applause till the fucking end!!!!!!!!!! Damn it!!!!!

I get so disgusted with all the stops and starts that I don't even follow the fucking speech. Ass-kissers!
