Do the Romneys actually clip coupons?
Isn't the point of being millionaires the fact that you don't have to worry about saving a few pennies on your grocery bill?
Do they shop at the Dollar Store too?

5. "Coupon clipper" is an old phrase meaning living off bond interest
|
Last edited Tue Jan 24, 2012, 07:28 PM USA/ET - Edit history (3) Bonds used to have interest payment notes called coupons that you'd cash in as they matured, over the life of the bond.
Vernacularly, being a coupon clipper today means non-working and wealthy with some sort of regular income from investments. But it's kind of an antique phrase. My mom used it (with contempt). And Tweety still uses it. |
