I WANT to be ruled by the top 1%
The top 1% in intelligence and
The top 1% in compassion and The top 1% in tolerance NOT the top 1% in Greed and NOT the top 1% in Ignorance and NOT the top 1% in Intolerance which is what we have right now. Which top 1% do you want to see in power in this country?

4. I prefer not to be ruled myself.

But if I wanted to choose someone to represent my interests I would chose one that fit into your first grouping.

5. In a proper democracy the people rule, politicians should be our servants.

6. But in reality, they serve us in a "ruling" sort of way.

We elect leaders because their general philosophy comes close to our own, and then we turn them loose to do the day to day business of running the country.
I think it's more correct to say that in a working democracy the people do not rule, they choose who will rule them. We've all got other things to do with our lives; jobs, children, school, caring for elderly parents, mowing the lawn, fixing the broken water heater. Realistically, we don't have time to "rule" the country, so we delegate that job to a person of our choosing. |
