I don't read conservative cartoons, but I have a hard time believing that there are as many good conservative cartoonists as there are liberal ones. We have so many good ones! Horsey, Danziger, Oliphant, Mr. Fish, Wuerker, Rall, . . . Ack! I'm forgetting so many more!

(3,855 posts)He was right about this one.
I am no fan of Ronnie Raygun. I disagreed with pretty much ALL of his policies. He was my governor for eight years, so I am intimately familiar with how consistently wrong and misguided he was. But acting like everything he ever uttered is anathema goes a bit too far, even for me.

(39,909 posts)It is especially "sad" to those of us who are old enough to remember what DEMOCRATS used to sound like,
what Traditional New Deal/Great Society Democratic Values are,
and the hope that used to be inspired by the Nation, AND the Democratic Party, moving in the right direction.
NOW, it is considered a "Victory" if the Democrats don't give the Republicans every-single-damned-thing they demand.
The Democratic Party is a BIG TENT, but there is NO ROOM for those
who advance the agenda of THE RICH (Corporate Owners) at the EXPENSE of LABOR and the POOR.

(10,611 posts)The point? Teabaggers wouldn't recognize a quote from GOP demi-god Reagan if it slapped them in the face.

(24,280 posts)justify the Iraq war by posting a list of the Democrats who voted for it. That one always gets a laugh from me.

(47,992 posts)SOMEBODY said the TRUTH about that. You can expect Democrats to say things about Social Security and Veterans' benefits, but talking about HOW we finance most of our own debt ourselves, the bonds, is just icing on this particular piece of "cake".

(47,992 posts)how they are right.
I KNOW it's a risk, but if functionality is a product of, amongst other things, freedom, then suppressing the recognition of truth, by imprisoning it with political correctness, has a negative effect upon functionality.
And THAT is what this is all about isn't it? How to function so as to produce the most of the best solutions possible with the most people possible, for a given set of circumstances, not purity of ideology in somekind of unidentified abstraction, right?
If we're too weak to recognize an authentic truth when we see it, we have more trouble than just political correctness.

(2,535 posts)...I can tell you his parents (his dad was my band teacher) were John Birchers, so he knows the "other side". I will say they were the old guard Republicans, they actually listened to to "the other side" so Dave got a good upbringing and I suspect this is why he is the way he is with his cartoons. His "nemesis" used to be Brian Basset (who does the comic "Red and Rover" and who used to be a political cartoonist in "the other newspaper" that competed in Seattle, but Brian is in the same mold as Dave, and both of their cartoons actually reflect who they are in person.
Hope this helps ...
