On behalf of the entire Kansas Congressional delegation, I apologize to Sandy victims

All four of our illustrious Kansas reps voted against aid for Sandy victims.

Huelskamp - a tea partier who has been all over the media lately making a royal fool of himself

Jenkins - she laughed when a constituent asked her for help finding affordable health insurance (at a public meeting so it's on tape)

Pompeo - he called his opponent, a native of India "a towel head"

Yoder - swam nude in the Sea of Galilee

To top it all off, two of these nutjobs ran unopposed in November. So I should probably apologize on behalf of half the voters in Kansas.

I guess these rocket scientists all forgot about something that happens in Kansas every year - TORNADO SEASON. And they forgot (or maybe didn't know) that Kansas ranks 9th in federal aid following natural disasters.

They had to have been in a coma to not remember what happened to Greensburg:

Greensburg is home to only 777 people. But no one complained about that when federal aid was necessary to rebuild the ENTIRE town. (And it's absolutely gorgeous now. Definitely worth a drive through if you're in the area.)

For that matter, Joplin is only a few miles from the Kansas border. At least their rep was smart enough to vote yes on this bill. He probably remembers this:

I also take it they never saw the Wizard of Oz. But that's pretty much a right of passage here in the Sunflower State. So maybe they slept through it.

At any rate, please know that the people who live in the state of Kansas understand disasters and know how important federal aid is. We are not all as stupid as our Congressional delegation.

2. I don't believe

Any DU member in a 'red' state is anywhere near 'dumb'. . . No - no my friend. You aren't dumb. You are just in hell!

And as a New Jerseyan - I hope we never ever retaliate against people in need. 777 or 77,000 - it doesn't matter. We are America and we CAN be better than those 67 'no' votes.

I hope our delegation is more far sighted and compassionate, but I feel your pain. I live in a blue state (NJ) but a red district.

That's far more efficient than legislation.

27. John Culberson is terrible from Tx 7 district. Why we continue to elect these two, I dont know

I did not like Patrick when he was attempting to be a sports reporter but he has proven to be even lower as a member of the Texas Legislation. Sorry, sorry, sorry.

...and recommended.

Thanks for the thread, Proud2BlibKansan.

They murder abortion doctors here in Kansas.

Not to mention:

...and finally:

Brownback Declares Saturday to be a 'Day of Restoration'

“The propitious smiles of Heaven can never be expected on a nation that disregards the eternal rules of order and right which Heaven itself has ordained.” - George Washington, 1789.

“I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just; that his justice cannot sleep forever.” - Thomas Jefferson, 1787; and

It amazes me that Kansas used to be a bastion of women's suffrage and civil rights.

9. I have a similar problem...GOP Rep Mo Brooks (5th District AL)....

....also voted against the Sandy aid bill. He has apparently totally forgotten about all of the Federal aid this district received after the terrible tornadoes of April 27, 2011. More people died in northern Alabama from those storms than the total number of people killed in Tuscaloosa, but you would never know that based on the national media coverage.

For shame, Brooks....you are truly an asshole.

13. I will join you.

Until we rid ourselves of the trash here it will be like this.

I don't think we are capable of doing it. There are not enough of us and there is too much distance to reach over. No help, no deal. That is the problem and will remain the problem as we sink. We will be the state everyone points to and goes, "Whew, glad that is not our state." <--See that? Brownback will be successful putting us on the map as an example after all.

I am sorry to all of you, sick at heart and sorry to see this but not surprised at all. I would love to see any of these 4 assholes out in the wilderness learning to pick themselves up by their bootstraps, apparently what they think you should do.

Proud is correct, we do know and understand disasters and how much we need help when they happen. We ARE not all that stupid or heartless. Please know that.

17. I grew up in Kansas...

My grandfather was a Dem in the state legislature in the 60's , 70's and 80's. He's probably turning over in his grave. I remember there was a show on tv about how Greenburg rebuilt their town completely "green".

I was born in, and lived in, Brooklyn, NY for 34 years. The area I grew up in was devestated by Sandy. While the way the Kansas deligation voted sickens me, it does not suprise me.
