Who has the Military Industrial Complex stolen from you?

How many of you have had family members, friends, and acquaintances killed by our disgusting war machine?

I have friends who came back very different after Iraq and AfPak - and not for the better.

I have a few who didn't come back.

And a good HS friend of mine never got to know his father because he died in Vietnam

This guy needed a father more than anyone - and he paid for that loss all of his life

1. No one

A friend died in a single car accident on base...another died while rock climbing when I was stationed in Arizona...and the last one died while learning how to scuba dive in the Red Sea!

But none were stolen by the MIC...

5. I knew more than 60 who died in Vietnam

Plus many more who were wounded. And my first radioman, my best friend, and others who committed suicide. Plus many, many more who have struggled with PTSD.

Steve Doane, a friend and roommate, was awarded the Medal of Honor posthumously.

And that's just VN. There are more from the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars...

6. We gotta kill this

Anything that kills our friends, our family, our loved ones

Whatever it is, it is not worth having

Please understand where I'm coming from

7. My best friends son

Killed by an ied in Iraq. He joined because he was struggling to support his family. Now his widow struggles to support their two children. He went to Iraq because it was his job and because he took the oath but he was very much against the war and he detested Bush for starting a bogus war that brought heartbreak and tragedy to so many American and Iraqi families.

I see his kids from time to time and it bothers me a great deal to think they will never know their father. All we can give them are photos and anecdotes, and that is a piss-poor substitute.

9. My cousin was nearly blown up in an attack in his base in Iraq.

Thankfully he survived but members of his platoon weren't so lucky. He came back to the US with a completely changed view of the military because of the incident.
