1. K & R for total geekiness..

boasting is allowed whenever any posting subject includes Stephanie Miller, who should run for something, along with Rachel. How about Maddow/Miller in 2016? Or in 2024, after the Clinton/Warren presidency.

2. It Piqued Interest with 35,000+ Views but Only Garnered 2 Recs?

How to explain that discrepancy?

3. Numbers always mean something....

it's figuring out what they mean that causes arguments.

7. Good job of nonchalantly tooting your own horn there.

if you took the phrase "Stephanie Miller" out of your title, there probably would have been less views and thus, less recs. It's all about presentation.

9. It's been cross posted or referred to in multiple sites across the internet.

And not in a good way.

12. 35,000 views doesn't mean 35,000 people stopped to read it.

If a post gets linked on a high-profile site or another busy forum, that will inflate it hugely. A post could be linked from Freeperland and get a bunch of views that way. (Only the admins who have access to the site logs would be able to see which sites people are coming from.)

The view count also isn't unique. If you refresh the page, it will go up (a unique view count would only count one view per user/IP address). Every time you click the thread to read new replies or to reply to a post, a view is added. Every time you're redirected to the thread after posting a reply, a view is added.

Just saying because the view count isn't really indicative of much.

14. ahhh.... it just went up 5000 views since i posted.

I hadn't thought of outside links-- well, very good for DU all-in-all. Traffic is traffic in the eyes of ad sales.
