Introducing Discussionist: A new forum by the creators of DU

Ed Rendel is making me very angry on MSNBC.

He's all for changing the way we calculate the cost of living and raising retirement age. Says we have to give Rethugs that in order to get what we want on other issues.

10. But first and foremost, a moron.

Or, in the preferred DU spelling, Moran. With apologies to my distant relatives, the Moran family.

3. The point of MSNBC is to get you mad at some people

If you are emotionally involved you keep watching. You keep watching they keep selling commercials. And that is how maseratis are bought.

If they didn't have ratings they would put on dog shows or cooking shows or pornography it they could get away with it. The key to entertainment is to keep people emotionally involved.

4. I watched

and felt sick to my stomach. He was stating that it is up to the president to lead. Never once did he mention obstructionism and refusal by the republicans to cooperate. His view is that we have to give the republicans everything they want to placate them so we could get some of what we want. He never even thought about the fact that they want 100% of their ideas while enacting 0% of democratic ideas. I couldn't believe the shit spewing from his mouth and I couldn't believe that only Kornacki even attempted to refute his bullshit.

5. He's on the steering committee for Fix The Debt

Fix the Debt is pushing for radical alterations to the tax code to legalize a hundred-plus billion dollar corporate tax dodge and pass the buck onto the middle/working/underclass in the form of deep cuts to Social Security, Medicaid and Medicare, all the while masquerading as a selfless crusade to save the nation from going over the financial cliff. Bless their blackened hearts.

One of the Fix the Debt campaign’s main proposals for deficit reduction is creating a “territorial tax system” that would enable corporations to evade taxation on offshore earnings—which amounts to a combined $418 billion from the Fix the Debt member corporations—when they bring that money home, and giving themselves a $134 billion tax break,

6. This is probably totally unfair, but he reminds me of a perverted neighbor we had when

I was growing up. My folks told me steer clear of "Uncle Arthur" and to never, ever, under any circumstances, sit on his lap, lol. Rendell gives me the creeps. Plus, his politics suck.

7. Made me mad when I heard it too.

Could he be any more obvious? I'm sure the repugs will come through and cut defense spending, etc. if we do that. How stupid does he think we are? Apparently the cast of the Cycle are pretty stupid, since none of them questioned him at all.

9. George Carlin was prescient...

"They're coming for your retirement money. They want your Social Security money and you know what? There gonna get it. They want it back. And they'll get it all too because it's all one big club. AND YOU AIN'T IN IT."

11. In an encyclopedia entry on DINO they'd use Rendell as an example.
